Everyone is always thinking about their own careers and future. These are professionals, men with families.

I didn't say they have downed tools, I just said that knowing you'll be sold and that you'll likely have say in where you are headed if you're one of the better players must be in the back of their minds.

My guess would be that many of them will be saying to themselves currently, "we won't go down, we won't let that happen". One would hope that is their mentality. But some of them must know they personally will be fine if the worst happens.

Capitalism and low ambition from everyone in the club has landed us in this position.
From ENIC limiting wage to Lange's shocking purchases and horrific squad building.
As others have said, ENIC deserve relegation but us fans certainly dont.

Oh no, I know how bad we have got. I just thought there might be another couple of teams without a win this year and not just us. But we are well and truly the worst team in the league right now. That cant be argued.
 
You can date our issues back to the summer of 2018 when we didn't sign a single player. Absolutely disgraceful. Things went downhill in the league from that summer onwards. Been a mess the last few years.

More I think about it, I'm convinced we're going down. Teams will play so hard against us as they'll be desperate to get a big team out of the league.

I think given how bad we have been, I've been more aware than usual that the likes of Wolves and WHU have stopped losing all the damn time. We have 4 draws and 5 losses in 2026. Wolves, who are going down as one of the worst teams of the PL era, have 1 win, 4 draws and 5 losses. (game more than us)
Digging deeper, their 2026 results include a win Vs West Ham, who beat us, draw Vs Newcastle, who beat us, draw Vs Forest, who beat us, draw Vs Arse, who beat us.
It's deeply concerning. I just can't see anyone in the league that we're better than to take the points we need off.

Hence why “just two wins will do it” is so laughable to hear, not at anyone in particular.

38/36/33 points or whatever gymnastics are being applied, I don’t think that a fight for 18th has been this tight for a very long time. The 40 point metric may well be broken. Do we think we can get there?

Fucking Ange had more points at this point last year. In our worst season.

Most particularly I believe you can date the club's decline to the refusal to replace Dembele.

Perhaps the most defining aspect of this club's decline has been the ever-present belief that good players can be replaced with average ones and there won't be much of a drop.

That vain hope that we don't need to spend because other average players may improve or be just fine (Winks, Sissoko, Dier) is probably the primary cause of our demotion to laughingstock

Started way earlier than that mate. Conte and Ange very briefly painted over the massive cracks with Ronseal before the house started to fall down.

The structural problems started way back with not making a signing for 12 plus months trying to get grealish on the ultra cheap.
Last 2 years is just quickened the process due to unprecedented injuries and a bad winter/summer of filling out the squad with untested youth players

For sure. Dembele, Eriksen, Son, Kane, Lloris etc. All replaced by mid players.

It started in October when we were getting fluke results, that was just completely unsustainable. I said that luck wouldn't last and we'd be in deep shite even then.

Last season we picked up 5 points between the 26 February, so now, and the end of the season. 1 win against Southampton and 2 draws against Bournemouth and West Ham. So we could quite feasibly do as badly again.
