Yeah if we're half-way competent we should be able to bounce straight back given our resources. Obviously it's not that simple and money isn't everything, but just look at Burnley a few seasons back.
Went down, sold Cornet, Collins, McNeil, Pope, released Mee, Tarkowsky, Lennon, Bardsley, Pieters and loaned Weghorst and Lowton - raising about £70m. That's a huge chunk of their squad gone.
They then bought about £25m worth of players (around £2-4m each) and loaned some talented players from around Europe.
With like a 70% new team and the right manager they completely smashed the Championship and came straight back up. And the main reason they struggled back in the PL is they couldn't afford to sign the talented loanees which wouldn't be an issue for us.
We would start with a stronger squad base to build from, have significantly more to spend and be far more attractive to potential players. There's really no excuse for us not to be extremely competitive in the Championship imo - we're not totally skint and/or fucked by PSR like Leicester, Villa, Leeds and these other teams that massively struggled.
We are run by gimps, though...
