It’s a coin flip.

Safety is there if the players will do it. There’s no one to depend on returning. No one is coming to help. The men who are currently available have it all in their hands.

And despite what we have seen this year, they ought to be better than the dross lining up for the Spam. At the very least so that if we go down, everyone recognizes that they were not the reason.

Whether they do it or do not, the names of the men on the lineup cards for the next few games will be written on our history. The die is cast and there’s no more to say for them.
My worry is that it's not an 11 man game 'the lineup cards'. We're down to the bare bones naming a starting 11. When the substitutions are needed (they always are), we'll be scrapping the barrel.

Nope. I did find myself purposely not watching when the football was awful under Conte I think but I'd never not watch for long.

I also went through a period where us losing really pissed me off and I'd dwell on it for ages. Had to remind myself that it's really not that deep - watch the game and enjoy or don't enjoy the result - but then go spend time with my boy to forget about it.

Is harder now mind - he has finally started to love his football just as we're gonna get relegated 😂
I think my interest has ebbed and flowed with my social life.
Obsessed as a young teen.
Dwindled as I got to late teens and into my 20s - out and pissed/partying all the time. Still paid attention but rarely went.
I think around about the time Jol took over I was hitting my mid-late 20's and mates were settling down and the piss ups were getting few and far between.
It's been a bit of a zigzag, but we had been improving generally between then an about 2022 and it kept me "in"
Now - season ticket since 2017... a lot of time and money committed with very little to show for it..
im done GIF

Goes without saying, we don't want the club to go down.
Part of me though, wants the owners to suffer a huge financial loss when we do.
Hope they sell it off cheaper to someone who has a vested interest in football as it's core business .

Yeah the costs involved are bound to make people consider things.

Any news on pricing reductions if we go down?

That sounds like something you might get asked on a pychotherpist's couch.
It's a valid question really.
I often wonder why on earth anyone watches Golf, or Darts when you could just play them.
It makes very little sense in a way.
But then we watch movies, stand ups, West End shows etc. I guess it's just a case of enjoying the external stimulation.

I totally agree. How many times have I asked myself 'Why do I spend so much time and emotional energy following Spurs?' The answer partially lies back in the mists of time, when as a young boy I starting following Spurs.
It can't be explained to those who don't like football or similar really. It's just what we like.

Its the same as people invested in EastEnders or Love Island. I don't understand that! Weirdos.

Im here for life like you, and I know Mrs Perryman Mrs Perryman Nutter-Naylor Nutter-Naylor Bazali Bazali and GOAT are as well. I know it, even when they say they are done they aren't.

And your 100% correct even relegation won't change it. I'll subscribe to the Isthiam league News letter when we are in it. Something happened to me as a kid (and you did it to you son). It was the white kit under the lights. It was something about Perryman and Hoddel Villa, Crooks, Archibald. They radicalised me and I know we'll never be as pure or great or special in reality as Spurs are to me: prehaps Kane feels more for Bayern now or Modric for Madrid but Spurs are it for me.

I love lots of Sport but Spurs mens team winning football matches can't be bettered. I just can't care more for anything else,Levy Enic Lange Vinai the national team Romero they can tarnish it on occasion but they are powerless to turn it off in my heart.

Fuck you, I'm here for life, too.

Still, I've resigned myself to relegation. It would be wonderful if we pip West Ham and send them down, but we're just not run as a serious club by serious people, and bill is coming due.

We're going to be playing home and away against Wrexham next season; a team that was laughed at a few years ago after being bought by American media celebrities who were the first to admit that they knew absolutely nothing about football. That's the level that our ownership has brought us to, competing against a club with ownership that works part-time, and with a combined professional football experience of less than 10 years.

Somewhat disagree

Being rich has meant this club has not finished lower than 10th in the hardest league for nearly 20 years .

That was until Lange came in and started playing 4D chess :langetroll:
It's massive complacency. It used to be impossible for a club like Spurs to go down because there were 3 tiers in the Premier League with top 6 and bottom 6 clear and the rest in the middle.
Not true any more.
You still have a top 5 or 6, but below that it is a dog fight.

Oh I get that. If people decide to spend their money on something else then that's up to them.

It's the 'If we go down, I'm done with Spurs/football...' rhetoric I don't get.

Spurs could get relegated to the National League and I'd still be invested and watch every game I could.

They're definitely a minority sure but they are around on here.

Of course I don’t want to get relegated. But…..

I’m fucking bored of premier league football and have been for years.

I hate VAR

I quite like the thought of watching us win a lot of games.

Again, I don’t want us to go down, every day I’m full of anxiety over it all. But I might be more invested in it if we do go into the championship. I suspect if we get there it will be shit and make me long for the PL. Maybe I need that reset as much as the club.

I'm coping with the thought of relegation by choosing to believe we'll have an exciting team under RDZ with a core of good youngsters surrounded by solid, serious professionals.

Staying up or going down, I'm looking forward to the purge of those who don't want to be here.

I'm also assuming Lange and Vinai will be shown the door mind.

Thanks but I'd be surprised if 99% of supporters didn't think like me.

Are you saying you wouldn't still support Spurs after multiple relegations?
I think some who have deep lifelong connections to the club see themselves as the owners - the club's soul truly belongs to the supporters after all - and ENIC as merely the latest to own THFC the business entity. These supporters will see themselves as the club, ENIC as poor stewards.

Those who don't have those sort of lifelong or multi-generational connection to the club, those who picked up by choice during their lives, via a move to the area or through friends, or converted by a favorite player - these will feel that the club belongs to ENIC, ENIC has broken its contract with them by abusing their support and cynically taking their money without intending to deliver on promises to steward the football well. These won't feel an obligation to continue, saying the club abandoned them first by ceasing to be a football club and deciding to become a moneymaking racket instead.

I think there will be some in a gray zone as well... following a second club in parallel, leaving until the club becomes serious or ownership changes...

Not one thing will happen to expand support, it can only contract it for sure.

If we were relegated, and if RDZ were given carte blanche to rinse out the whole operation and bring in his own players, and if Lange and VV were among those rinsed out, and if ENIC decided to become serious and put football first, yes that would be fun.

I'll say that I have my doubts.

Unfortunately I think if we go down the most likely to go is DZ. What we have to remember is those running the club either don’t know what they are doing or don’t care that we will be relegated.

Living through Sugar and living through ENIC has been tough. It’s all the majority of us have known. I think those of us who were around before that are just hoping one day we get someone else. I only think this lot go though if someone offers them stupid money. If not they’ve no intention of going anywhere.

I only support us because of my dad growing up near the ground. My grandparents moved from near Highbury before he was born. So I always think it could be worse, I could be one of them!
