When he’s actually fit he is useful. Nothing special but he puts himself about and can cause some trouble in the box. A decent PL player.
His chronic injuries are the problem, not his quality. We saw during that spell last season that with consistent games in his best position, he can contribute.
Unfortunately he’s now a sicknote and he will fall down the pecking order as a result.

Agree re: first part. But i dont think he will just sit and wait till contract ends. Seems that he still has some ambition left, so hopefully he will agree to leave if no significant minutes will be offered to him.
This is the sad bit I’m fairly confident his injuries are related to his mental health - can’t be so unlucky to keep picking up injuries in training - playing 15,minute cameos looking fine post match but then being injured for extended periods / thought he looked totally uninterested when he came on against Everton
