Thats an Instagram direct message, which he has screenshot and posted on his public story

Pretty sad to read messages like that

So it's someone he knew or can any member of the public DM you on IG?

(Pardon, dumb questions.... I don't get involved in all that jazz.)

It's about time governments/tech corps enforced an online passport for everyone. You post disgusting shit like this, then you should own it and face the consequences. Every post, every image, every text etc should have your metadata embedded.

Ridiculous that there is still no comeback for idiots who spout hatred online - FB, Twitter, etc make a king's ransom every second, they really need to take some responsibility for the abuse posted.

My god... Why would someone sign up to something like that?
There are settings you can use to turn off the direct message feature, but many public figures actually like to be able to engage with fans and friends alike via Instagram (as they should, without having to be subject to this kind of bullshit).

In this instance, these messages have come though under a “message request” section, that essentially allows people to write messages, without them being directly available for the recipient to see as part of their usual direct message list. So almost like a junk/spam folder in email. Sess included the users profile name in the image, so I tried to jump on and slam the fucker, but looks like it was a ghost/troll account - that people often use to post inflammatory and insensitive shit without being able to be traced back to them personally. Many also do these types of things, as they know it will likely be “shared” and that they will get their moment in the spotlight, utilising the often hugely elevated platform of the person they have attacked. Pretty fucked up.

Unfortunately, social media can be used in this way and moral/censorship lines become blurred when the platforms themselves are asked to monitor this type of behaviour. This is the world we live in. Just got to keep calling it out.

Absolutely agree. There should be no platform for that language of racism/hate/discrimination against minorities.

Moving back to football, Sessegnon had his first start in Bundesliga tonight (has started 2 EL games before and 2 sub appearances in Bundesliga before) and had to move to a CB position after a Hoffenheim player sent off, but did fine.

Hoffenheim: Baumann - Posch (Skov 34'), Vogt, Akpoguma - Rudy, Samassekou, Grillitsch (Gacinovic 81'), Sessegnon - Geiger (Baumgartner 62') - Belfodil (Adamyan 62'), Dabbur (Klauss 81')
Unused subs: Pentke, Brenet, Nordtveit, Bebou

I hate scum that hide behind the anonymity of social media. I agree that there needs to be a method of finding out the original poster of racist, mysoginistic & homophobic posts.

Not sure if that is even possible given that virtually every football forum has threads on how to sign up to foreign providers & hide your location.

With regards to social media, the genie is out of the bottle. Too far gone to regain control.
