Ok, so the Scots on the forum will already know this, but I've only just discovered how fucked up the SPL is...

:kanehand:

There's 12 teams, and they've already played some 21 games, so I was confused at how the season actually works.

For those like me, the confused...

Each team plays the others 3 times (until they've played 33 times). After this point, the league splits in two and the top half all play each other, and so do the bottom half.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It's fecked right enough it been a source of contempt for years it means some teams end up playing more home games than others plus you can play one team 3 times at home, thus playing one game on their patch! At the end the league splits in a top six, bottom six. Top six going for the championship,ha,ha and bottom six avoiding relegation. Bottom team goes down, second bottom goes into a play-off with the 2nd,3rd and 4th them in championship....you following? Odds are stacked against the championship team they play 4 games to qualify for the play-off then play again against premiership team, home first leg it's a long drawn out affair....and when league is finished team that's in 6 position could have less points than the team in 7th.

Anyone who has had anything to do with that needs to get in the fucking sea.

The whole set up is a farce. They also insist that cup semi-finals be played at Hampden now if say Celtic,Rangers,Hearts,Hibs or Aberdeen make it that far fair enough it's justified but over the last few years smaller teams have contested them Inverness,Ross County,Dundee United etc yet make them play in 50k stadium with barely 15k off a crowd horrible to watch and no atmosphere! Plus kick-offs are 12noon sat or sun the transport network up here doesn't cater for that but who cares it's just the fans......They are not important!!!

Scottish football is a joke and is during on it's arse.it's as relevant as elephant polo or Morris dancing.
Aye but as soon as you mention you prefer English football the "it's all about money, selling your soul blah, blah, blah" comes out! Scotland by its size can't sustain the amount of teams it has but what can you do,if you have a guy who, fair play to him is not a glory hunter and supports his local part time team why should he lose his team just for the good of the game in Scotland, with no guarantee it will work? And if you have a young player who is good but can get better wages in the championship or even league one you can't blame him for wanting to move to England again leaving Scotland behind.

I said years ago on a Scottish football forum the only future for a successful Scottish football was if team amalgamated and there was maybe 16 teams in Scotland. Even then, th Glaswegian dominance would be hard to break

Exactly, you have Rangers and Celtic supporters clubs all over Scotland they dominate leaving the rest with an average fan base when doing well say between 10k to 15k that's Aberdeen,Hearts and Hibs then if they do well their best players are cherry picked and they are back to square one. So your fans drop off again leaving the two Glasgow clubs to dominate it's hopeless.

The auld firm have uniquely destroyed Scottish football whilst making it totally reliant on them. It's a rotten, hate-filled cradle of bigotry and self-destruction.

Yes, it's fucked. The old firm asset stripped the competition and allowed any talent to decay in favour of expensive imports like Tore Andre Flo.

Rangers had a chance in their recent catastrophe to build a formidable home grown team from the ground up. A Scottish Ajax developing together for years in preparation for a return to the domestic top flight. I assume such a project never even occurred to the cunts. Instead we had a few more years of Lee McCulloch and now Kenny Miller leads the line upfront five years down the road back to glory.

The structure of the league is an abortion of ill conceived experiment. Fraught with corruption and half-baked religious divide, the future looks as grey as a night out in Aberdeen.

The home of football is now a footballing dystopia, unimaginable were it not reality.

McGinn, Tierney, McKay... get out now, by any means possible.
