After 2 years not that bad, shame the clause is a bit low.
2 years of LB being not an issue seems fine. Gives us time to figure out what to do with Sess, invest in another player with the proceeds. It's not ideal but given the caliber of player he is/can be, seems like a reasonable risk.

It's far from certain that they will buy him back, but as you said: we will find a solution if they do and we would have some money to spend. Absolutely no reason to worry about this deal.

Even if they buy him back we get 2 years of player who's easily better than Davies. You never know he might even grow to love it here and want to stay. If he does leave, use the funds to buy a replacement.

Hopefully we get it done.

Not this deal, this is good.

It's the rest I'm worried about. It's like a little 2 year window to win something before our squad simply can't put off that huge rebuild.

A bit more of a long term view would be great.

He might enjoy it so much, he won’t want to move again. Get him in and let’s win some bloody trophies
He was ready to go on loan to Sevilla for a year rather than Man Ure to allow him the chance to play for Real in the future, he's not talking to Man Ure because they wouldn't give him the release clause.

He simply wants to play for Rel.

Yeh long term view is great but we can't write off this season. Without reinforcements we're fucked this year so a bit of short-term fixing is needed. Other clubs, especially in Europe do this type of deal all the time so if we can benefit, Real benefit and the player is happy, everyone's a winner.

What if he’s shit?

The puppy dies.

We've been doing long term planning for years, didn't pay off in terms of trophies. No point of long term planning while Jose is in charge that's not what he is here for. We've got one of the best strikers in our history who's 27, Sonny who is up there with the best wingers in the league who's 28, one of our best ever goalkeepers who is 33 and Toby who in his time here has been one of our best centre backs in club history who's 31. Time to stop planning too far ahead and make sure this current crop of players don't go the way of Dembele and Vertonghen and win something in their time at the club.

Just please, please, please still have four chances when the calendar hits October.

Don't completely disagree with you but we have Sanchez (24), Sess (20), Tanganga (21), Skipp (19), Parrott (18), Hojbjerg (25), Alli (24), Lo Celso (24), Ndombele (23), Bergwijn (22), Foyth (22), Winks (24) and Clarke, Cirkin, White and other academy players to come along. Not all of those will stick around, some will improve a lot and some won't, but it's not as if we'll be left with nothing in two years time.

€35-40m after two years, right of first refusal for three years after that.

Because I am not familiar with these types of clauses does that mean that we have him for two years for sure at which point Real can choose to buy him back.

And then after that we have him for 3 years unless we decide to sell in which case Real can choose to match any offers?

Or could Real buy him back at any point during those two years or beyond?

After a fixed period of time, say 2 years, then RM can buy him for a fixed price. Therefore turning it into a glorified loan if he is good and off the books if he turns out shit.

Fine by me. Anybody moaning about that will complain about tits being too big.
