Is anyone here positive about Silva? As in he's their first choice? Please enlighten me. I need someone to convince me he's the man!

It feels to me like the only reason we are going for him is because his release clause is not as expensive as Frank or Iraola. Seems insane if that's the deciding factor! Please someone tell me I'm wrong and how Silva has become a much better manager then when Everton sacked him!

Right, I'm taking a new stance on the whole thing...

Forget the anti-Ange hate, forget the evAngelist confusion that he's been sacked after winning a trophy....

To borrow the tired and well worn 'Glorified PE teacher' comparison, think of it like this;

AN ANGENALOGY

Ange represents our favourite teacher at school...
He was a bonder of people, spoke home truths when he had to, inspiring, irritating, infuriating occasionally and came out with the odd cheesy quote...

But ultimately, he had our best interests at heart, only wanted the best from his students, and to get them through their exams at whatever cost.

Well, now the Class of '25 have GRADUATED.
No, it wasn't an A* but a creditable B-/C+ (depends on your view of Art as a subject, cas opposed to Physics and Biology) but the most important thing is that we got through it TOGETHER.

NOW, the class breaks up for the Summer holidays, some will go off to different schools, but most will stay on, with a NEW teacher... but with fond memories of their old teacher...

It doesn't diminish the job he did...
But we're moving on...

We won't forget that Mr Postecoglu BUILT THE FOUNDATIONS for our further education.

We're at BIG BOYS school now!!

Thanks teacher. We'll never forget you!

I think most managerial appointments in the PL are just pure gambles these days. Most clubs really don't have a clue what they are doing. They appoint and hold their breath and hope.
I think its more that managing PL club is so complex matter that there is no blueprint that guarantees a success.

Just look at Chelsea, they have thrown ridicoulous amount of money during takeover, and I still think they are far from ready to fight for a title. And they were very lucky with Palmer aquisition - just imagine where they would be without him.

So yeah, in general you are right - its mostly about appoint, hope and be patient these days :D

It's an absolutely shit appointment imo. Even if it magically works out there was no way the hiring was done with the sole purpose of success (signing proven players and winning things).

probably give him a 2 year contract as even they're not sure and he's probably a stop gap for Poch.

No.

It’s only one (crap) source who’s reporting it anyway. The other more reputable ones are saying Frank

That's what it feels like! If poch is free in 2026 and he's their man then we'd have just been better off giving Ange the season 3. Silva is very underwhelming.

I'm not a fan of Frank either but maybe this Silva talk is just to soften the Frank blow. If it ends up being Frank now fans will probably celebrate it.

If it is Silva then I really hope he surprises me and can go up a gear. His job at Fulham has been brilliant but it's his previous job at Everton that really concerns me! I'm not sure how our players would take to him either. At least Frank seems like a nice guy. Silva always came across as a bit of a dick.
