Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I remember the days when Spurs fans took pride in having players in any national squad. Now, a selection is seen as an injury hazard.

A few too many meaningless international callups for my liking these days - classic case being Romero who has a 2 match international ban, but called up in case he gets let off his 2nd match ban and a new 'Nations' Tournament (and yes I know it replaced 'friendlies'), and there being 2 or even 3 matches in international breaks now rather than one match (years ago).

Doesn't help when you compare the number of players called up from Newcastle (very few) allowing them 2 weeks training and match preparation time which the Spurs team won't get as there's only 4 or 5 players NOT called up.
.
I still take pride, but mainly for international tournament finals rather than qualification games

I agree on the whole, but I guess it's a catch 22...... Qualifiers aren't meaningless and without A there is no B.

Romero situation is pathetic though.... Club should have kicked up a fuss... Especially given a) the circumstances which led to the ban in the first place were also at out expense; b) they're dead rubbers anyway and c) the break before that they sent him back injured.
