Tanganga showing that the gap between academy and first team isn't as great as most people generally think.

Imagine if we decided to give Edwards game time over Nkoudou? Gave Skipp more minutes over Wanyama and Dier? Developed KWP alot more smartly? Etc.

Our former u16 captain doing well at PSV making his senior debut aged 17 - moved to PSV after refusing an Academy Scholarship at Spurs due to lack of route to first team after seeing only Winks get to first team in the last 4 or 5 years. One of the best talents in his age group in the England set up let alone Spurs, so just shows how destructive to Spurs long term future Poch's 'youth development' (or not) strategy was.

Decided to make up a quick video of Roles vs Scunthorpe. He was playing as the deepest midfielder early, eventually ended up wide left to start the second half, and then came inside a bit more often. His first half was fine, but nothing really noteworthy. Second half he was one of the better players on the pitch, albeit against a side down to 10 men since around the 20 minute mark.

Makes you wonder.

In a time - and I do mean the last 3 years included - where Spurs have been under quite a bit of fan pressure to make signings to really lift the team and refused to do so, the easy alternative to shut up critics would be to play a fuckload of youth players in cup games and when rotating.

Instead we bought the likes of Aurier, Sissoko etc while also giving way too many minutes to obvious duds like GKN and N'jie.

Absolute carcrash of a strategy

Carrick like DM, who could certainly do with a loan to continue his development as u23's already too easy for the 19 year old. Right footer who can also play RB if required. He and Harvey White are excellent prospects

What is the crowd like?

Nice relaxed atmosphere.

Only the west and North stand lower tier are open. But pretty much full.

Unsurprisingly with school holidays, the crowd is mainly families. Lots of kids and supporters who are here to see the stadium for the first time. Good for the future set of fans.

Then there's the odd nutter like me who had nothing better to do on a Friday than to watch spurs, even though I've been to every game played at the ground 😂 😂

Decided not to make video on Georgiou since we've seen a decent amount of him over the years in preseason and I don't think too many still consider him a top young player, but here's a few words on his Ipswich debut:

Played in a more advanced role on the left side of a 4-2-3-1 and made an instant impact to a team that was very flat in the first half. Had great chemistry instantly with left back Myles Kenlock who I like quite a bit.

Did a good job winning physical battles and drew some fouls going forward. His first real involvement in the game was winning a foul not far outside the box and then crossing the free kick to a wide open man who got a weak header on it.

Kept things fairly simple, created a good amount of opportunities streaking down the left side and crossing in. He was used on both corners and free kicks from any spot in the attacking third and most were very good. Worth noting that when Alan Judge was subbed on he took a late corner instead that led to Ipswich's first goal.

My personal feeling at this point is Georgiou is he's more of a Championship player long term but I see why people like him. He'll be excellent for Ipswich this year and has a chance to make a nice career for himself, I just don't see it being at Spurs.

Former Spurs u16 captain, left before signing Spurs Academy Scholarship due to concerns over lack of pathway to first team......now looks like he's playing as Bergwijn's replacement.

Shows up the cost of Poch's 'train with me, but you are only likely to get a few minutes playing for the first team' policy.

Great to see Chris Powell.

He is an absolute gentleman! Met him a few times when I was involved with Charlton. Might see more players from our youth setup being involved with England now as he is part of Southgates team.

Big opportunity now for players like Skipp, Bowden, Cirkin, White, Markanday and Eyoma to push for regular places in the England youth teams.
