Swedish club Hammarby have confirmed that 16 year old Williot Swedberg has been on try out with Spurs after having been scouted at elite prospect camp in Sweden this summer.

Swedberg is a second generation footballer on both sides of the family tree. His father is former Sweden international Hans Eskilsson, who apart from the Swedish national team has played for Sporting and Braga in Portugal and is a former Swedish champion. His mother is Malin Swedberg, who has 78 caps for Sweden, a world cup bronze, 3 Swedish championships in the women's league and a Diamond ball (voted best female footballer of the year) to her name.

So far it is just a try out and Hammarby have yet to receive information on if Spurs are going to go ahead and offer to purchase the youth player. Swedberg is currently working through the Hammarby and Swedish national team youth systems.

Interesting. Great pedigree too, sadly footballing skills don't seem to be inheritable, otherwise we'd have had Greaves (junior) and Gilzean (junior) following in their fathers footsteps, but there's always a first.

Spurs youth went through a period of recruiting a few talented players born outside the uk to join at age 16/17 - players included Milos Veljkovic from Basle - but that seemed to come to an abrupt halt maybe 6 years ago. John McDermott when asked about overseas recruitment said that recruiting players local to Spurs tended to mean the players seemed to 'try harder' to make it at Spurs (my words).

With the rumoured recruitment of Yuri de Santiago and now this Swedish youngster it sounds like Spurs policy is changing to try to recruit a few young top players from overseas to add to the academy once again.

Williot Swedberg ... like that name really exists.

Whatever you all do, don't accidentally put the following search into Google: willipt swedberg.

The only search result that comes back consists of the words cumshot, fucking lesbians, evilangel, busty guy and oral load :pochfacepalm: (take my word for it, I ain't lying!)

He’s 15 years-old and would be part of next season’s scholarship intake, if signed.

Worth keeping an eye out to see if Parrott features. If not he could easily make the first team squad come Saturday.

Think the first we might see of Parrott is the Colchester match - he didn't feature in the u23 EFL trophy match v Ipswich first team which would have been decent experience and with 24 players in the first team squad ( excluding Parrott) unless none of the 4 mentioned as possible in the injury update, I can't see Parrott getting in the squad - slightly higher chance of Tanganga being in the first team squad with CBs Foyth and Sanchez being out.

Spurs u23s play Southampton u23s @ noon tomorrow Friday.

Wonder if Poch and other coaches watch these matches when played at Hotspur Way ?
I think he does sometimes as he has been pictured previously. What chance of Parrot playing in the uefa youth league next week. Poss more competitive
than the under 23 stuff. He needs to play games of some sort.
On second thoughts we can have 12 subs for champ lge games so likely to be on that bench.

12 subs certainly makes it a lot easier to have a couple of youngsters on the bench. Even though we have a squad of 24 (excluding Parrott), there's bound to be a couple of injuries on the day, and even if not, resting a first team squad player rather than him not being on the bench might be a Poch way of ensuring they train hard.

Under 19 UEFA Youth League is probably a notch below where Parrott will be aiming at, but it is more compettitive than u21 league and playing different styles of foootball so some education - but Parrott didn't play v the Ipswich mens team in EFL Trophy which would have been educational in a physical way, so I'd guess not, with Poch having him on the bench for the first team UEFA tie which is about 3 hours later than the Youth League tie

Jamie Bowden back from injury and had a good first half but replaced at HT by Hinds, after which we lost a lot of the control that Bowden had given us.

White starting at LB to accommodate the number of good CM's we have and lack of a decent LB with Cirkin injured.

No signs of Parrott, Taganga or Skipp who have all clearly outgrown the u21's in terms of football development

Spurs u18's v West Ham @ 11 am on Saturday.

The u18 team seems to have stabilised into being mainly this seasons Academy Year 1 players with maybe three or four year 2 players such as CB Luis Binks to provide leadership and experience.

Striker Kion Etete signed from Notts County in the summer seems to be finding game time difficult to get, mind you he's probably still trying to get to know the other players and how they play and its early in the season still, but surprised he's not getting more time in u18's if not u23's - although at the older level Rodel Richards is doing well as striker.

Might be too early for Yago de Santiago for similar reasons, but maybe a run out as sub ?

Squad for the UEFA Youth League, which has 39 players listed.

All the Academy Years 1 and 2 so includes the likes of Troy Parrott and Harvey White, not sure whether Parrott in particular will play in the competition but lets see

Plus some u16s - Jordan Hackett(CB) Rochaun Mathurin (winger/striker) and Dane Scarlett (striker)

Some over age players - eg Rayan Clarke, Paris Maghoma, Tashan Oakley-Boothe, Timothy Eyoma, Brooklyn Lyons-Foster, Jamie Bowden, Rodeo Richards Jon De Bie Dilan Markanday and Max Tainio. ( One or two of these maybe within age but in the Development squad, others definitely over age). Not sure on why these players chosen, for experience obviously but Eyoma and TOB in particular should be beyond this level.

Btw the squad list had to be submitted by 10 September with all the players properly registered with the club.

The squad can be amended after the first match.

The maximum squad size is 40 players. As the initial list is of 39 players I'd guess that after the match on Wednesday Yago Santiago Alonso will be added to the squad as it looks like all the legal formalities ( work permit ?) Were only completed in the last couple of days
