We should be seeing a lot more loans of our promising academy players, as well as permanent moves for others.

There are 30 ish players in our development squad with perhaps another 6 - 10 joining from Acaddemy Year 2 next summer, so I'd guess at least 10 more out on loan or transfers to go this January.

Just as an example at CB we have Eyoma, Dinzeyi, Lyons-Foster, Binks and Walcott all of whom are currently in the development squad or will be from the summer onwards, and we cannot play all of them so will stifle their development. And besides which u21 football is good for one season, probably ok for 2nd season, but by season 3 players start to regress as they are not learning anything (the stage Eyoma and Dinzeyi are).

Eyoma (age 20, same as Tanganga) - Went on Preseason 2018 and looked good (with Amos and Skipp) but then had a year of Poch no play just train, and this season looks less of a player than he did. Desperate need of a loan to take him back to the level he was

Dinzeyi - Again aged 20, no point in keeping him with so much competition, release him to a lower league club needing a physical CB, unless all the other CB's are loaned out when we might want to keep him to play u23's - but that would probably be unfair on him

Lyons -Foster - Aged 19 went on Preseason 2018 but didn't play - I suspect that whilst he is a Rolls Royce of a CB just not physically developed enough. Probably retain him to play u23's and get him to bulk up ?

Binks - Aged 18. Physically well developed, good CB with Alderweireld skill of long passes, often captains Spurs youth sides. I'd loan him out - he comes from Gillingham and think his mum still works at Gillingham FC so an obvious club to ask... But he'd have a few admirers out there.

Walcott - Aged 18 Big build had a few injuries though meaning he's missed a certain amount of youth football. Probably retain him to play in u23's but could be loaned out.

Below this level we have more talented CB's in Academy Year 1 and u16's often playing in international youth sides so we are not short of CB's to share round, but we are short of meaningful game time for them.

And this analysis assumes Mourhino is going to play Tanganga on a regular basis - if not he's another we need to find a good loan at a good level where he will play lots of minutes......

Always had a soft spot for the whole thing with bro's in football teams.

So, how are our Craigs down?

Identical twins

Spurs u18's host Swansea u18's in the PLu18 league on Saturday morning.

The u23 league's competitiveness (or not) is shown up again as the next scheduled matches are in February , about 3 weeks away.

So lots of players available to play u18 football just trying to keep fit.

Spurs u18 v Swansea

Kurylowicz, Cesay, Hackett, Skinner, Muir Lusala, Pedder, John, Etete, Robson, Bennett.

Subs - Alonso, Lo-Tutala, Mundle, Cassanova, Mathurin

u16 Jordan Hackett starts, good to see John back from injury.
u16's Cassaova and Mathurin make the bench - latter player building a good reputation as an attacking winger.
Coach Taylor has resisted the temptation of playing older players such as White, Cirkin whilst the u23 break is on.

HT Spurs lead 2-0 (Kion Etete, Nile John scorers)

Our former u16 captain doing well at PSV making his senior debut aged 17 - moved to PSV after refusing an Academy Scholarship at Spurs due to lack of route to first team after seeing only Winks get to first team in the last 4 or 5 years. One of the best talents in his age group in the England set up let alone Spurs, so just shows how destructive to Spurs long term future Poch's 'youth development' (or not) strategy was.

Makes you wonder.

In a time - and I do mean the last 3 years included - where Spurs have been under quite a bit of fan pressure to make signings to really lift the team and refused to do so, the easy alternative to shut up critics would be to play a fuckload of youth players in cup games and when rotating.

Instead we bought the likes of Aurier, Sissoko etc while also giving way too many minutes to obvious duds like GKN and N'jie.

Absolute carcrash of a strategy
