Austin starts in goal (preparation for Thursday bench ?) first start in a long time for Pochettino, Devine starts in u23's having left u18's behind ? White starts, so unlikely to start on Thursday.

Bench includes Skinner, Pedder and Mukendi, not often in u23 squad this season.

Love this kit.

Wish we saw it more.

Troy started v QPR. Subbed off on 74 at 1-1.
Ball and Carroll playing for QPR.
"The hosts were quicker off the mark as a tense London derby started promisingly, Tottenham loanee Troy Parrott twice having shots well saved by keeper "

Seems to be getting a bit sharper every week, a bit closer to a goal hopefully too

Carrol with assist for QPR's goal btw

What's the view on Skipp, then? He seems to be one of the best players in a decent footballing side at the top of the Championship. Has his loan been perfectly timed or do we think he could have still made better use of the past couple of seasons?

He's got his own thread - looks like a great loan, playing in a winning team doing a similar role to PEH gets voted MoM more often than not.

Last season was wasted. A write off
Was it? did another twelve months fully integrated in a top six EPL squad perhaps provide him with the skill set and the humility to hit the ground running at Norwich? Maybe a year being the water-carrier has prevented him from being an arrogant twat like so many EPL loaners seem to be .... he's certainly got his head down putting in the hard yards at Norwich.

I don't know if any of that is true but it is possible, sometimes being grounded for a year is exactly what youngsters need - to much to soon has ruined many a young talent.

Or you're spot on and it was a year wasted ......

In 2018/19 Skipp started twice and came off the bench 5 times to play 216 mins in PL, also played 120 cup mins

In 2019/20 Skipp started once and came off the bench 6 times to play 73 mins in PL, also played 78 mins in cup

Problem was Poch did not allow youngsters to play youth games once they were training with first team - so that's his total playing time in 2019/20 and he played no youth games in 2nd half of 2018/19 after he had made his debut - so playing little gained no playing time experience, so development was curtailed.

IMO Skipp should/could have played more in both 18/18 and 19/20, but given his limited playing time (and no youth matches) from his debut through to end of 18.20 think it made total sense to get him out on loan to play a lot of mens football as he is doing at Norwich (already played 4 or 5 times more in the 3 months of this season than whole of last season) .

Sadly its a pretty common critique of Poch development of Spurs youth players - they need competitive games to develop (not just first team training) and if he's not to play at Spurs, a loan is (at present) pretty much the only alternative - and Poch only sent players on loan if he didn't think they should be at Spurs.

So pleased to see Skipp out on loan (and Parrott) and expect to see loans back on the agenda for other decent youngsters going forward.
