Cheers windy. Any views on who you think will make it and be a top player for us?

I know the obvious name Parrett, Cirken, Nile John, Scarlett and Devine. You think any of these will be our next Ledley King or Harry Kane or even just young Oliver Skipp.

We've got 3 strikers with differing levels of expectations.
Parrott 100% needs another loan and an Etete loan wouldn't hurt IMO.
However I think keeping Scarlett around would be a good idea and he may pick up some decent minutes in the Euro games.

Going to be interesting to see which of the lads don't go on loan at the start of the season (might be loaned out after Christmas) so as to get competitive minutes in European Conference League.

Obvious names would be Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine as they are really too young to be loaned out.

But there will be others aged 18/19 who may get minutes, whilst playing u23 football rather than being loaned out,

All these guys should be loaned IMO:
NO LONGER U21 2021-22
Austin, Brandon
Omole, Tobi LB,CB
TANGANGA Japhet
NO LONGER U21 2022-23
Eyoma, Timothy Joel
Lavinier, Marcel RB
Lyons-Foster, Brooklyn
Mukendi, Jeremie CF/RB
Okedina, Jubril CB
Thorpe, Elliot CAM

By 'this season' I assume you mean 2021/22 ?

I think all last years Academy Year 2 players plus maybe half a dozen older players (probably 2001 or 2002 born) will form the u23 squad next season - and about a dozen players will be loaned out,

I have edited to make it clearer.
Hopefully loads of loans. I am struggling to think of a player who got better for us just playing Academy games.

An interesting relatively short podcast from LilywhiteRose on Spurs youth players

CAMBRIDGE SIGN TRACEY

Cambridge
have completed the permanent signing of attacker Shilow Tracey on a free transfer.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the U’s and made 16 appearances before he was returned to parent club Tottenham, who released him this summer.

Another of the vast number of youngsters who find their level in the lower leagues.

I don't think any youth watcher understood why we signed him from Ebbsfleet in the first place as he seemed to make Sissoko look good.

Going to Cambridge United is a level above where he was playing, so I guess we take credit for him ! (But not sorry to see him go !)

Channel 4 has commissioned a new six-part documentary series filming behind the scenes of a Premier League youth football academy.

The Academy (w/t) will follow the unique relationships between the staff, players and their families at the South London based Crystal Palace F.C. Academy to reveal the work that goes in to developing the next generation of footballing talent.

Filmed over twelve months, the series will capture the hopes and dreams of the Academy squads, and club coaches and staff who help the young players achieve their potential. Aged between eight to 18, these players are all striving to complete the life-changing journey from grassroots football to Premier League star.

One of the most prestigious football academies in the country, the Crystal Palace academy has developed established Premier League stars such as Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, as well as the current England manager Gareth Southgate and former Premier League winner Victor Moses. Thirty-two players in last 14 years making over 1,000 appearances for Palace.

I seem to remember something similar from a good few years back. Maybe 80s
Could of been chavs or Woolwich youth team but not sure.
Anyway, the only scene I can remember is the youth team had just lost a game and were travelling back from the game on a coach.
The captain was sitting at the back of the coach laughing and joking with the other lads. The youth team coach was then asked about the captain, whether he'd be good enough to turn pro.
The coach basically said not with that attitude, losing is supposed to hurt and he's having a laugh.

Thought he was clearly a patch signing, filling a gap so training and youth matches could play the preferred shape n patterns…

First start for Brandon Austin (playing 90 minutes) in goal at Orlando City in MLS in a 2-1 win, follows on from a loan in 2nd half of last season at Viborg in Danish 2nd tier where he made 14 appearances.

Sounds like we have given up on gettig circa 5 million from our 50% sell on clause to allow Edwards to move to Sporting Lisbon, in exchange for getting a sell on fee from Sporting . perhaps a lower % of a larger fee when he move on from Sporting which would give a bigger monetary fee in a few years time.

Maybe also it makes it easier if we see Edwards returning to Spurs after Sporting Lisbon ?

He could easily still have a higher ceiling than CHO. He might be a £40M player next summer, good move.

This is a probably a sound financial decision by Spurs.

But it does highlight the issues for young players considering signing their first pro contract.

Edwards signed, it didn't work out with us, but we still have a major say in his future.

Madueke didn't sign, and can now make decisions free of any such constraints.

50% of something is better then 100% of maybe.
OK it might be a nice gesture to a club where the amount they potentially "lose" is enormous but I for one would not be punting on Edwards.
