Going to be a tricky preseason/summer and next season for some of our younger midfielders :

Harvey White (age 20) - Good all round CM, able to get forward to deliver pin point crosses from left side (and this season seems to be able to deliver crosses from right side), able defender (used as a CB for Spurs u19 v Barcelona a couple of years ago. MoTM as Spurs won). Possibly best set piece taker at the club. Been on Spurs bench for half the season after a half season on loan at L1 Portsmouth last year which was very decent although didn't play as much as he should have,. 5 goals and 6 assists in 18 x u23 appearances this season, mainly in first half season.

Jamie Bowen(Age 20) - Probably best described as a deep lying midfielder with good passing from deep. On loan in first half of season at L2 Oldham with a goal and 4 assists in 17 appearances - difficult club to play for due to ownership/fans relations but a successful loan, arguably should have stayed for added experience. Has captained u23's on his return with a goal and assist.

Nil John (Aged 19) - Started season well with 45 mins against Paco in ECL (withdrawn due to abysmal midfield performances by Lo Celso and Winks) before reverting to playing for u23's with 7 goals and 3 assists in16 appearances, mainly playing as a CAM (he used to be a winger 18 months ago). Best attribute is probably driving forward from midfield. Wasted 2nd half of the season on loan at L1 Charlton where he didn't play.

Alfie Devine (Age 17 - not 18 until August) - Has a mature body for one so young, and seems to organise midfielders around him in a mature way. When he arrived he tended to play as a DM, but seems to have changed to more of a CAM type role playing u23's despite his age with 9 goals and 3 assists in 18 appearances this season. Has played a few games for u18's and in FA Youth cup, but this now seems to be too low a level for him.

Then there is Michael Craig (aged 19) who has had a decent season playing u23's in a CM role before, perhaps surprising many youth followers, appearing on the first team bench.

This summer Transfer Window there are a lot of players who could be upgraded so I'd expect only one CM upgrade of Winks - so leaving 4 decent quality CM's with Bentancur, Skipp and Hojbjerg plus one.

So next season there could be a role as 5th CM if Conte were to offer maybe 6 - 10 appearances off the bench - but equally if there is no first team minutes its a bit of a waste of a season .

So with that in mind I'd expect White to go on loan to a Championship club, Bowden and John to maybe a L1 side ...... with Devine possibly staying as 5th CM if there are first team minutes, simply because he's possibly too young for a loan ?

But its a tough call, as we actually have a lot of talent coming through in the CM position.
Think the bench spot for Craig, was likely ‘Training meritocracy’ from Conte. Hope so, in that you train excellently, to your full potential, you get rewarded. Sense that is BIG for Conte.

How come that Spurs' u-18 players look like they've just entered puberty .... while African u-18 look like they're in their 30s... 🤔

Sociologists call it Adultification but you really wouldn't want to go there as they'll tell you it's cognitive bias

Sunderland vs Sheffield Wednesday is today at 19:45 (on Sky) for the 1st leg of the other league 1 playoff game with Clarke hopefully playing. Ex-spurs Pritchard and Cirkin could also be playing for Sunderland although the latter is coming back from injury and ex-spurs Massimo Luongo will probably start for Wednesday!

Last league games of the season this weekend for both Spurs u18's and u23's

Spurs u18's v Woolwich on Saturday at 11.00

Chelsea u23's v Spurs u23's at 13.00 on Sunday (can we beat them and relegate them ?!)

But not the end of youth football for the season - on 27, 28, 29 May 2022 is the Terbourg u19 Tournament.

Clarke played 90 minutes as Sunderland beat Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the first leg.

Former Spurs Pritchard, Cirkin and Luongo also played - first two for Sunderland, 3rd for Sheffield

I do hope Spurs spend a little time over the summer looking a Spurs u18 coaching this season as there have been a number of heavy defeats, and whilst the team has had few 2nd year academy players available meaning the teams have often been younger than the opposition, I'm not sure that is the only issue.

Etete starts - a huge surprise but definitely needed as Chelsea have drafted in several first team players which is a bit pathetic for an u23 match.

Mind you they need to win otherwise they get relegated - and Chelsea playing outside the top u23 division is something which they couldn't live down next season !

A few u14's involved, including Ramell Carter

Mikey Moore is an AM and a regular goal scorer for both Spurs u16's (playing up a year) and E u15 - think we may see him play a few games at Spurs u18 level next season, playing up a year group again
