Tottenham are closing in on PSV Eindhoven's Dutch international Steven Bergwijn.

The 22-year-old has been left out of PSV's squad for this evening's game against FC Twente after Spurs lodged a bid believed to be in the region of £30million.

Sources in Holland expect the deal to be done in the next 48 hours.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and chairman Daniel Levy met with Bergwijn's advisers last week.

Bergwijn, who is also being monitored by Leicester, has a clause in his contract that means he can leave for £30million in the summer.

He was on the brink of joining Sevilla last year, but the deal collapsed when the Spanish club failed to trigger the buy-out.

Wait is this the latest link or just some posters suggestion? Clarification....

Looking online it seems weve been in talks with him and he's been a long term target for a season or two.

He's asked go be ommited from the PSV squad to continue talks and he's not in their squad today (similar to Willian Jose) - so this one seems to have legs.

Fee obviously not agreed but £30,000,000 seems to be the price I've seen quoted.
