It's pretty stupid for the club to make a comment like that - because they're giving the West Brom fans hope that he might actually stay. If it is likely he'll leave this window, they shouldn't comment.
Maybe West Brom are just trying to get the deal moving, if he is leaving they will want to replace him, and quickly with the season just 10 days away! Not that we seem bothered by that

No, they are saying there has been NO bid. Which kind of says that this £10m offer Levy told the journo's he'd made/was going to make is all Bollocks.
Whether there will or will not be a bid or transfer, there has been no bid, yet.

I just don't understand them stating there has been no bid - if there has been no bid, no need to comment!

It only makes the ITKs look stupid.

All WBA are doing is updating their fans, novel idea i know but.............

I would understand them doing it if there is no way Berahino is leaving, but if there is a good chance he could be leaving, giving the WBA fans false hope is just stupid...

Or maybe he isnt leaving

Maybe not, but they'll look stupid if he does!

Would be an odd way to encourage a bid - basically telling your fans that there is nothing to see here...

The relationship between this place (and all suporter forums tbf) and ITK's:

You can't take Berahino and keep him on the bench.
With Kane on the lineup, maybe it's better taking a veteran like Austin.

55 games to play!! This is what pisses me off. If Kane gets a knock in the next week we start the season with either Ade or Soldado up front whom the majority want to sell. Do you want to keep them?

If so fine, if not then we are 10days away from starting the season totally unprepared in our squad balance and depth.

Even if we sign them now we will start the season unprepared wouldn't we?

I may make a bid to WBA for a fiver, just so they can say they have rejected a bid for him.

Based on what I've read in this thread I guess my view isn't shared by many. I'll post it anyway.

I don't want us paying huge sums and insane wages to proven semi good PL players like McCarthy and Berahino, just to fill our ranks. Money like that should only be used if we need, and can get, a big upgrade to our starting eleven. To me, neither Berahino nor McCarthy, will help us reach top 4.

Instead I think we should take some gambles with players that looks like they can have a lot to offer, from smaller or lower leagues. Players that will be happy to come in and fight for a place in the first team, without expecting to be played every week. Players with the right attitude, that will work hard every day, with the rest of the squad, to become the next big thing. The Modrices, the Bales, the Berbatovs.

We need not players who come here and do a decent job, a Defoe, Bent or Pavlyuchenko (which I feel are strikers comparable to Berahino. We have enough good players. What we need is world class. It's hard to buy world class as a finished product. We need to find it young and develop it.

Couldn't agree more I think we have done very well to address our problems at the back, but I still think our biggest issue was at striker.

Kane was tremendous but we can't possibly have him playing 50+ games this season even if he remarkably never picked up a knock.

Ade and Soldado are so far gone and looks like both are on the verge of moves. So we are 11 days from the start of the season and Kane's only backup is Coulthirst. I don't understand how management have left us so short at striker. Almost inevitable Kane will pick up a knock now and we will end up having to play Chadli up top with lack of other options.

Completely agree. I don't understand why people want premier league players so badly. Berahino is fine, he's young, but McCarthy isn't anything special and didn't even stand out for a poor Everton side. Just because we bought a few duds from abroad doesn't mean they'll all be.
