On a note of our squad if we subtract Lennon, Chiriches, Soldado and Adebayor who appear to be the remainder of players to leave (maybe Carroll and Yedlin later)

GK Hugo Lloris (captain) 28
DF Kyle Walker 25
DF Danny Rose 25
DF Jan Vertonghen 28
MF Érik Lamela 23
DF DeAndre Yedlin 22
GK Michel Vorm 31
DF Eric Dier 21
MF Andros Townsend 24
FW Harry Kane (vice-captain) 21
MF Mousa Dembélé 28
DF Federico Fazio 28
MF Nacer Chadli 25
MF Christian Eriksen 23
MF Tom Carroll 23
DF Ben Davies 22
MF Ryan Mason 24
MF Nabil Bentaleb 20
DF Toby Alderweireld 26
MF Dele Alli 19
MF Alex Pritchard 22
DF Kieran Trippier 24
DF Kevin Wimmer 22

Oldest player = Michel Vorm (31)
Youngest = Dele Alli (19)
Average age = 24.08 years
Last season Newcastle was the youngest squad with = 25.30 years

Our team is young

Seriously though if we're able to keep the majority of that for 3 years we could be great.

The problems with Austin and Berahino is that I doubt either would want to be our third choice, that is why I'd go for Berahino and Werner personally - due to Werner's young age - alternatively we could get a veteran who is happy to just collect his pay slip.

Berahino would easily have the tools to play as our wide forward, very much like Jay Rodriquez at saints who was a striker as well so I think you could easily have Berahino on with Kane at the same time. Austin yeh he is pretty much only a target man.

Overall Berahino, a proven prem players with exceptional class would be an outstanding signing.

Sign them both at the same time without each other knowing :adeninja:

With a bit of squad rotation and setting up for different games etc, there is no reason 2 of them or even all 3 can't be involved in the first 11...

Obviously Kane will still be our first choice, and it's unlikely they'll all play at the same time - but just because Kane is our first choice, doesn't mean they can't/won't be involved.

Looking at those line-ups shows how desperately we're in need of a dm

I'd rather have Dier in central midfield. I think Vertonghen is a better defender then Dier and the fact he'd be alongside someone he's played over 100 games with makes it all that much better. At least Dier has played defensive midfield in his career.

While I concur that Vertonghen is a better defender than Dier I also believe he would be far better at recycling possession than Dier whose style of play is slow and tedious.

Maybe I just haven't been paying attention to Dier at centre half but Vertonghen is one of the slowest footballers I've seen in terms of releasing the ball. That's ultimately dangerous in a defensive midfield position.

  • If Bobby leaves, with Adebayor almost certainly out, we need two forwards. Berahino plus Werner would be my choices.

Never (consciously) watched him, don't watch German international youth football and not seen Stuttgart more than once in the past year.

Have seen him noted as a Centre Forward, Striker, Forward on various sites.

If he's not a true striker then doesn't make any difference to my point which is that we need at least two more as well as Kane, one can be young potential, the other needs to be as high quality as possible - there are many carrying opinions and thoughts on what that can and should be. These Aubemayang rumours are laughable, as were the Benteke ones once the price was £22m+ but, should be aiming for somebody decent.

Right. Chaps. Please listen. Timo Werner is not a striker. I couldn't give a fuck what BBC, or SSN, or ESPN, or Transfermarkt say, I have seen the lad play most weeks for 2+ seasons.

HE IS NOT A STRIKER.

NOT A STRIKER.

:walker-scream:

He played up top a few times to cover an ill-disciplined and injury prone Ibisevic last season, but that is not his position. He can play any role of the 3 behind the striker in our system, particularly the wings. This is where he's played the majority of his games for Stuttgart.

Read it? Got it? Good. :adeninja:

He will not be suitable back up for Kane, or Berahino, or Austin, or any fucker we play up front.

Please. PLEASE. For my sanity. Stop this Werner striker stuff :walkercry:

There is no way Kane should ever be anywhere other than up top. 30+ goals does not require tinkering with. Leave him there.
