So Dier is a good idea at DM?

I cannot even imagine how much shit would be lost on here, if the idea this window was to sign a 21 year old centre half for a few million, to solve our DM hole.

Yet, because he's played a couple of closed door friendlies, we are on it like Saville on a corpse?

The fact that he has played there before, and that Poch is trying it is at the very least worth discussing it.

How old is Bentaleb, and Mason? They played 900000000 games there last season.

YES ! YES ! YES !
I hope this guy is legit.

A Tottenham Hotspur delegation are due to travel to Germany next week as head coach Mauricio Pochettino attempts to add a forward and a midfielder to his squad before the new season kicks off.

Spurs are interested in Stuttgart forward Timo Werner and have been linked Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Christoph Kramer and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Sven Bender.

Not really as we now have no Stambouli, Capoue or Paulinho to play in that role. I wouldn't read too much into behind closed door friendlies otherwise Oduwa will be starting on the left instead of Chadli.
He's just trying out players. Dier can play there and we are short in that area, for the time being at least.
Edit: However, he may be needed to if we cannot do any business by the 8th

No, Veretout can tackle and defend
Mason can tackle too. His defensive play is not that bad. . Have a look at Mason's defensive stats & compare them to other actual DM's in the EPL.
I know it's not all about stats, but everyone quotes stats of a player when they court him, i.e., goal to game ratios.
You will also do it when you are looking at a foreign player you don't know much about.
How do you know that much about Veretout, that he can tackle and defend? Nobody jumped on his name when I mentioned us probably being linked with him a month ago?

Edit: in fact, Mason defensive stats shit all over Veretouts, and Veretout's offensive stats shit all over Mason's.

I think we need a player exactly like Mason who is just better at intercepting/positioning. What we don't really need is a player who sits in front of the back 4 and doesn't go over the half way line. It doesn't suit the style of football we are playing under this coach having a DM like that.

Both need to be all round players. The key is covering each other as each gets forward. I'd rather have two players who can tackle & intercept but also be mobile and a threat with passing and getting forward.
Mistakes/errors and the high line cost as just as many goals last season as Mason's inadequate defence of the back 4.

Aren't you supposed to be loads of different people? Did you all go on holiday?
nah with the enemy

Stambouli and Capoue were not used, so not exactly short in the area by them leaving. Paulinho was barely used either.

So, like last season, its still pretty much Mason, Dembele and Bentaleb. Only now we have Alli and obviously Dier in the mix.

Poch is playing him there, because he can play there, not because there is no one else in the squad.

And closed door friendlies are probably the ones with a bit more significance in this case...no one is going to fight for their lives in the Audi Cup...
