So Bale of today vs Lamela of today, that position is different to when 'Arry/AVB would put Bale there. Interested to know what Bale's stats show for defence and pressing. Let me just fire up my laptop.

I'm just not as sure if Bale whilst being an upgrade of a player, fits into our cohesive unit? He is by definition now a luxury, statically better Chadli.

I don't understand how that even seems likely. I don't see why we would want him or why he would want to come coach here. I liked him at Rangers and Everton, never really rated him as a top player though.

Pochettino and Arteta have a father/son relationship apparently from their PSG days.

Real gone backwards? In 12/13 they were second in the league, on 85 points, 15 points behind Barca. They reached the semi finals of CL, where they lost to Dortmund, and they lost the copa del rey final to Atletico Madrid.

In 13/14, after getting Bale the summer of '13, they won CL, they won copa del rey, and they finished la liga on 87 points, in third, behind Barca on GD and three points off the winners, Atletico Madrid.

How that is a step backwards, I dunno. And by the way, Bale scored the 2-1 goal in both the copa del rey final and the CL final.

In 2014/15 they lost out to Juventus in the CL semi finals, and they came second in the league, on 92 points, two points behind Barca. They only reached the round of 16 in the copa del rey, but met Atletico in that round. Thry did, however, win the world club cup.

This season they are currently sitting one point behind Barca and Atletico in the league, but have shown better form since ridding themselves of Benitez. They have reached the semi finals of the CL yet again. In copa del rey they went out early, but only because they used a player who wasn't allowed to play - hardly Bale's fault.

So, how excactly have they gone backwards?

Us? We went backwards when we lost him, no doubt. When we had the manager we had with Bale, pretty much the same players with the addition of about €80M worth of players, we were a lot worse than we were with him. That, though, had a lot to do with AVBs shitty, stale tactics requiring magic from individuals, something which Bale could produce but his replacements could not.

Our team now vs our team then can hardly be compared. We play in a different way, with different personell. Yeah, we're better now than we were with Bale, but not because Bale isn't here.

He would be the absolute perfect player to take us into that world class bracket. We need that one player that can perform magic when the team struggles. And that can provide 20 goals per season for fun.

Yes, Kane outscores what Bale did in his best years. But they don't play in the same role. Bale wouldn't take (many, if any) goals out of Kane's tally, but add to the team's.

We would, clearly, be a better team with Bale.

Ok, fair point, they haven't gone backwards. My point was that we are a better team now than when Bale played for us. As I've said elsewhere I think he's a fabulous player. I'm just not sure he'd fit with what we have going at the moment. Anyway, it's all moonshine.

Not getting this Bale reacharound at all. Yes he's a great player (when not injured or sulking).

Yes it would be a statement of "ambition" by the club.

But he moved on. So have we.

He wanted his move & got it to his "boyhood club".

Him & his agent made it impossible for us to keep him. Levy held out for the biggest possible fee, but the whole thing fucked the start of our season.

He moved on to supposedly bigger & better things. We have taken a while, but we are on the cusp of bigger & better things now. Would I risk having him back at this club, for an exorbitant fee & wages, after the manner of his exit & the fact we have a manager who has a philosophy that doesn't cater for egos? I don't think I would.

Bale is dead. Long live the Kane.

Poch was asked about it the other day, didn't respond directly, but said they had a father son relationship at PSG when Arteta was 17 and Poch the captain.

Not that I think Kane will leave this year. But, I have been told Jose (wanker) has been informing Kane's father and brother that he should be on £300k per week. Where ever that may be, he can do one. We are one of the most exciting teams about. Not ITK, just what I have heard. Wouldn't suprise me Jose trying to unsettle the best player / team in the league before he goes and lords in up in rainy Madchetser!

If Mourinho actually goes to them, I could see a total meltdown in terms of introducing youth players. For the last few years, I haven't seen anyone except maybe Varane been introduced to the first team.

Already told people the stats for this lol

Bale makes 1 tackle per 180 mins. 0.5 a game.

Lamela makes, 3.6 I think, per game
