Transfers Summer 2016 Transfer Window Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We will not sign Griezmann.

Not without dropping 60 million.
Indeed - and you don't have the 'black box' transfer committee thing in place to go ahead and sign a player every man and his dog can see is brilliant (and who is already playing for a big team).

Griezmann has 'Man City' (or perhaps Chelsea) signing written all over him. Just as with De Bruyne.

I'm excited to see who we end up going in for. If the outcome of smart scouting is bringing players like Wimmer in (who I thought looked good in pre-season but is currently surpassing my expectations) then bring on the next ones!

The curious thing is to see what calibre of player we can now target if (not counting chickens yet) we do indeed get Champions League football next year. That'll put us in an unexpectedly good position to turn the head of almost any young, up-and-coming player. And out of all the teams up there, we're the only ones to demonstrate a proper respect for young players, where we'll give them the chance if they're good enough.

I still think, we need a second striker and a quality DM, because Kane and Dier need some backup and those are the only players we are not able to substitute atm.

Strikers: I personally would be look after Benteke (I think Klopp would not mind getting rid of him), Ighalo, Konè, Berahino, Dembele and Pérez (my personal favourite. If they are not available Spurs have to look abroad.

DM: I fancy somebody like Kranevitter who played at River Plate and now switched to Athletico (I know he is not available, but I wanted to illustrate what kind of player I mean). Options from the PL could be (if available) Sung-Yong Ki, Wanyama, but I am not convinced, that it would not be better to look abroad. The only player of the PL that I really would like to have in this position ist Kante.

So Pérez and Kante would be the real deal imho.

According the potential relegated teams: If Swansea goes down, there might be some interesting players (Sung-Yong Ki is the most interesting imho, while Sigurdsson and Ayew rather make only sense if anybody leaves). Players from Villa, Norwich and Sunderland make no sense for us. From Newcastle Pérez would be perfect and Wijnaldum would have the quality too, but (like with Sigurdsson and Ayew) I think we don't need another player in his position, unless somebody leaves.

Just my two pence...

PS.: David Alaba would be a great signing too, but we will never get him... :-( ;-)

Dembele, Batman and Kante would be massive.

Going to champions league next season with brainfarts Walker and Rose is really making me feel uneasy. On Sunday vs City neither of them was able to even put one decent ball into the box. If there are positions we desperately need to improve are those 2 fullback positions. I would keep Tripper and Davies for backups though.

I remember when we qualified for CLlast time and wondered about the possibility of getting Schweinstiger....even my Mum slapped me.

I'm out of the loop on players from abroad but in England there are very few achievable targets. You can write Chelsea and Woolwich players off. City and United too (not good enough or stupid wages) then you look at players from West Ham, Liverpool, Saints, Stoke or Everton - McCarthy I highly rate, Lukaku too. Ward-Prowse strikes me as a Poch signing but no one else from Saints. Bojan maybe...Sturridge if he wasn't made of tissue paper but that's it from there. West Ham have three players I like, Reid, Cresswell, Kouyate....Payet is a non starter...we don't need Reid nor Cresswell (possibly) so that leaves Kouyate who is their fulcrum.

Other than that - I agree about Perez and Wijnaldum then there's no one.

Only buy to improve is the mantra.

Edit: completely forgot about Leicester - Kante is a no brainer.

They are both excellent fullbacks and will be more than fine in the CL for the most part. Both are among the top 3 right backs and left backs in the league so I really don't get your point tbh. Bar the odd moment or bad game (every player in the league has them) they have been consistently good and are 100% good enough for us.

I cannot see Kante as Leicester will be in the CL and we would have to pay way over the odds for a player with one good season under his belt.

I think Perez is one Poch may decide to take under his belt and work on

We sold them Siggy, not sure if he's done anything to suggest we should buy him back, plus he's not a DM.

As we have all discussed over the last two windows it is important we get proper striking cover for Kane. I still think Dembele MK2 from Fulham would be the best bet, he fits into the idea of us signing young and developing them into a first teamer. Plus he would not expect to be a starter every week.

With regards to DM cover, I'm not so sure, I've previously stated I'd like a signing. However Dier has gone on to make that position his own. I think Bentaleb should be given the shot as the second DM.

You are deluded and can't see things objectively if you actually believe what you just wrote.

Sorry, but who is Batman?

Would be one of the many options from abroad.

Totaly disagree! We have four very good FBs, that have different qualities and can mix them up according what is mostly needed against an opponent. That's perfect imho.

Well I too think, that he will be very expensive. That's why I suggested to look for players from abroad, because I can't see any other player that is available and suits us in the DM Position. But we need somebody, because I see nobody who can replace Dier atm. (all other players we have are rater CM with offensive duties imho).

I know we don't need a player in his position atm. That was, why I wrote, that he "rather makes only sense, if anybody leaves". So it was only meant qualitywise (which I totaly believe Gylfi has).

Agree, although there are many options. But we desperately need a second striker and Dembele would be ok. for me.

Bentelab is a fine player with talent, but I don't see him as DM. Rather see him as CM and backup for eg. Dembele. I do not think, that he can play the role that Dier plays.

Batman is Robin's mate!

Thank you for your nice answer, but believe it or not, I don't know which player is meant with this nickname...

Perhaps?
