So. Five players in. Four players after Poch said he wanted four players. But "Levy clearly isn't backing Poch and Poch has to "send messages" in the media to get things done"!

Let's review our business.
Gazzaniga (sp?) - Brought in due to failure to agree a deal for Pau Lopez. Position sorted.
Aurier - Cheaper, younger and potentially better upgrade on Walker.
Sanchez - Very highly regarded player who is a definite upgrade on Wimmer and will be trained to repl;ace Vertonghen in due course, our oldest defensive player.
Foyth (sp?) - Further future cover for central defence in view of the eventual departure of Vertoghen and in keeping with our youth policy.
Llorente - Short term striker cover to fill that much needed gap for when Harry is injured or off the boil.
Plus we did not sell Janssen, which I am happy about, albeit I would have preferred a Prem loan for him. My only disappointment is not buying a midfielder, but it seems pretty clear that we had discussions with Barkley and he backed out of the Chelsea move in the hope of moving elsewhere in Jan - and I think it's reasonable to conclude that elsewhere is us.
So, all in all a pretty good window and our sales means we did it all while staying in the green. Wise considering the stadium cost. Yes, it would have been nice to strengthen before the start of the season, but we all know that Levy is all about making things work financially so we can moan ad infinitum, we know that he'll only sign when he can get the best deal. Hopefully with the talk of the transfer window closing before the season starts this will no longer be an issue going forward.
Also, what happened to all the melters and negative nancies (with the exception of
John Thomas
- fair playt to him and his "generous" 5.5/10 window rating) who were crowing so loudly before the window shut? They are conspicuous in their absence......
