Let's deal with this with some logic.
You feel it's an over reaction by our fans saying that spending too much on players as an excuse not to spend big citing Leeds/Portsmouth, let's add in Blackburn too for shits and giggles.
Why do we say this? In your view as a defence mechanism for Levy from not making the signings you feel we should and that we're over-egging the custard because we're nothing like Leeds/Pompey/Blackburn. You're mocking us for being glad that the club hasn't gone to the wall.
The reason we're nothing like those 3 clubs IS Levy, you seem to ignore that for the sake of saying the club lacks ambition. If you want to nail him for lack of ambition that is your right, but you'll struggle to argue that he hasn't looked after the club to any fair minded fan, ask a lot of fans of the other clubs who they think the best Chairman in the Premier League is, I bet you Levy would be top 3, easy.
Could we have spent more? Yes, should we have? The Dybala demands could have been utterly astronomical and screwed our wage structure in one fell swoop, was it a lack of ambition or just good common sense ultimately? I can tell you that neither of us are qualified to tell. But I'm pretty sure if he was too hot for the financial resources of Manchester United, logic says he was going to be a very difficult player to sign.
I am not saying this to wear a Levy scarf or pen songs in tribute to him but if you think about it he deserves credit for the things he's done.
