If Zaha gets priced out of a move then it’s his own fault. He signed new deals with high wages, but new Palace were never going to be anything more than relegation battlers. He at least should have worked a release clause in.

I’d imagine he’ll kick up a fuss if he doesn’t get a move by the last few weeks of the window, and Palace will be forced to drop the asking price, but anything more than £50m is too much.

Someone's been paying attention. See Airfixx Airfixx we are legion and cannot be stopped.

My lesion google image gag is a bit too gross..... Even for filth like me.

Listen, I would love nothing more than to take the piss outta Five Five because he's a total knobhead but he does have a point. And I'm a little cross with you for making me defend that bellend.:pochlol: But he does have a point. Janssen was signed and doesn't fit. As were N'jie, GKN, and a few others. Clearly he meant that Nando is not dynamic enough and I believe his mobility has fallen below most folks' expectations. Except bus-conductor bus-conductor who wants to go back to that Serie A well.

Uhhh, it is exactly a false dichotomy. There are many other ways we could have changed our play without putting Llorente on. We could have had Hugo do headstands it goal, Sonny and Lucas play as a 3-legged striker, or any other change. but you have whittled all these potential tactical changes down to 2 options ie a false dichotomy.

Straw man. I believe you are mischaracterizing Five Five 's position. And now you have made me defend that bellend again. :pochcry:
most of my comments are tongue in cheek, so not looking to get into an argument. But it would be nice if you applied the same graciousness to my posts as you do his. Since you're willing to not take his comment literally, but seem so intent on taking mine that way.
:deledoubt:
(I will admit this is partially my fault because i've been doing a terrible job explaining myself...more on that next)

I have to stop multi-tasking and posting while at work, because i've done it again. what i was trying to say is that it DID change the game. I didn't intend to say that was the "only" way to change the game. We changed tactics, it was largely in part to Llorente being on the field, and it was effective. I don't like "caveman football", but I hate losing.

What would you rather..?

A - Wan Bissaka/Gomes/Malcom
B - Aarons/NDombele/Ziyech
C - Atal/Tielemans/Zaha

Good question.

You have the best right back on that list in section A. But you have the weakest central midfielder and an attacking player in a position we don't really need to strengthen in Malcom.

You have the weakest right back in section B but one with a lot of potential and HG. You have the best central midfielder out of the three and a very good Eriksen replacement in Ziyech.

Option 3 has the most depth. You have a right back as well as someone who can play right or left wing in Atal, you have Tielemans with Premier League experience and Zaha who can play up top as well as on the wing.

I think I'd personally go with option B, because I'd fucking LOVE to see N'Dombele in this team.

Reminds me of when Ousmane Dembele was sold from Dortmund to Barcelona. Because of the sell on percentage Stade Rennes had it broke their transfer record without them doing anything :levylol:

Yeah, but if you've sold someone for iirc 15m euros, who's then re-sold for for 100m+ euros within 12 months, I'm not sure how much Levy style laughing, there's to be had. Someone shit the bed at Rennes. Not even as if he was some great secret either.

Someone moving from the Bosnian league to a middling team in a top and then killing it, proving their stuff at a higher level could see that inflation, but from the French to the German league, I'd say the :levylol:belongs to Dortmund.

Have all of Poch's signings been successful?
First, that's a loaded question. Who measures success, and by what metrics?

Also, I've not argued that any of them, much less Llorente, have been successful.

There are other ways to help a team that don't show up on the pitch. Leadership, professionalism, work-ethic, accountability, setting standards for behavior. There are world-class players who can tear a club apart with their attitude and there are players whose style is not a good fit, but who can still positively impact a club. And when a change in style is called for, they can fill that role too.

Coaches need to be able to adapt to the talent they have, and the team they are facing. In that sense, the fact that he brings something to the table that goes against what we typically do, I think means he does belong on the team (or at least a player with his traits) as an alternative way to approach the game. Not the preferred way (not the only other way), but an alternative one.

The question on whether or not he's been a successful signing can't be answered solely by what we see on the pitch.
