Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Anyone you’d have in mind?

I’ve always seen links to Eddie Howe, but I think he’d be a disaster. Bournemouth can’t defend and are regularly beaten soundly.

Always thought Tuchel or Nargelsman could do a good job at Spurs. But to be honest I couldn’t imagine a Spurs without Poch for a long time. Almost irreplaceable.

....Maybe if we need to climb back up from Div 3. Otherwise, hell no!

Tbh, nobody in particular in mind... I don't expect to get a great deal of insight into a manager without watching their team a fair deal; to asses tactics, adaptability and so on..... (Obv. over time you get a bit more of a flavour of the older/longer serving guys. Post Redknapp, Anchellotti would have been my pick, but not now).

I know that may seem like a cop out, but stop and think where we'd be right now if we had ended up hiring the 'safe' choice in Van Gaal instead of Mauricio.

The reason why he’s being quoted at £100m is because he plays in the Premier League and is homegrown. He isn’t any better than Lucas, but because Lucas has come from Ligue 1 he’s cost £25m. £45m is about right for Zaha, he is a very good player and would get into our team most weeks, but anything above that is robbery.

They Neymar deal messed up the whole market. You have players now going for money they are worth not even half of. For example, Julian Brandt. A full German international, 100 appearances plus under his belt and Champions League player goes for £22m. Meanwhile Liverpool want £25m for Harry Wilson who hasn’t played in the Premier League yet, and is off the back of an ok season at Derby.
Lucas was cheap as he was unwanted, Zaha is expensive as he is their top player. There is an epl premium but not to this extent (we`ll see what Pepe goes for)

Brandt only went for that sum as he had a release clause that overrode market forces, he would be at least double if sold freely.

Nuno at Wolves would be my first choice.

Risky move. His team's seemed to struggle against teams that sat deep against them, which is something we would experience far more than Nuno.

Having an agent force feed you your scouting network as well also leaves me wondering about his overall talent as a manager. He's done well but the juries still out until I see a bit of longevity and development in that promising Wolves team moving forward

By far the most intriguing transfer story right now.

Seems to have real legs but make ZERO sense
How does it not make sense? From our point of view I assume you mean.

We appear willing to let our international home grown RB that played in the side that has got to the CL final go for pennies. And this board want him replaced by a guy who’s had a couple of dozen nice games for Palace? For double the money?

Trippier didn’t enjoy a strong season, but he deserves better than the abuse he gets on here.

That is an interesting way of wording it. But this is the natural progression of things when you let players that are not good enough stay past the point of recognition of that fact. Trippier was never good enough and it was only due to the neglect of squad refresh duties has he remained here as first choice. And yes Poch bigged him up but what else would he say after Walker leaves? surely he's not gonna say "Tripps is shit but he will have to do for now".

This will happen to every player if the outstay their productive welcome. And it could be argued that he deserves exactly what he gets for not improving his game. That IS his professional responsibility let's not forget.
