Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

All comps goal difference:

2014-15: +20
2015-16: +42
2016-17: +73
2017-18: +60
2018-19: +33

Do you have a year on year number for injuries and how many games key players have missed through injuries per season?

Goal difference means nothing to me.

We finished 3rd last season.
We got to a semi final of a domestic cup last season.
We got to the round of 16 in the Champions League.

We are on course to finish 3rd this season.
We got to a semi final of a domestic cup this season.
We are in the semi final of the Champions League.

All whilst playing 3/4s of the season away from home and having numerous players out injured for key periods of the season.

We haven't progressed. This is a worse team than last year, which was worse than the year before.

The trouble is, one interpretation of the words is clearly right, and the other is clearly wrong.

"Be brave means don't sign anyone" was, frankly, a really embarrassing argument that was made on here. I don't remember by whom, but it happened.

A man preaching vocab, meaning and interpretation insists semi final of CL isn't "progress" compared to R16 last year and grp stage the year before that. (3rd EPL last year and 3rd (tbc) this year just for good measure.)

CLASSIC!!!

:dembelelol:

...And "embarrassing". :dierno:

Last year you were saying we needing to up our squads contracts. 9 of them were. You're now claiming that's fuck all support.

You flip flop more than Donald Duck.

What did you predict for the season after no transfers in the summer btw?
We're talking about signings, flipper. It's the fookin transfer thread.

If your idea of a chairman backing his manager is simply improving contracts to existing players then it goes a long way to explaining unswerving loyalty to the board rather than the team.

I've got a weird unexpicable respect for you, Spursdem. But you've let yourself down badly with this nonsense mate

Rather than the team?

Go look at who is on here more often putting faith in this squad and who turns up primarily after defeats to say they aren't good enough.

Then talk to me about loyalty.

You once said this side that came 2nd would come 8th-11th.

Don't chat about loyalty.

That's baked into the cake though. I still believe in this squad if fully fresh and healthy, with an addition here or there. But as it has played out it has not been as strong a side, which given the World Cup exertions was COMPLETELY foreseeable.

The biggest signings I want this summer are Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld, don't get me wrong.

I would, yeah.

The structure of the CL means a team can have a couple of bounces go their way and end up on top, that's what makes it so much fun. We won that second City leg just as convincingly as the Starks won the Battle of Winterfell, but what a thrill it was.

In all seriousness.... You don't seem like you're having fun.

Such a shame this wonderful phase of our club is passing the moaners by.

ALL comes down to money.... No?

You claimed Poch had the begging bowl out.

Slimey fuck.

I am not currently having fun because I'm terrified about everything Poch (and Levy) has built turning to rubble over the next few months as a result of the next week of games, but in general watching this team play has been one of the great joys of my life.

FEAR - Can't be a nice way to live.

Shame.... I'm feeling pride. Proud to be Spurs and all the more proud for the way we've got to this juncture.

And that’s your opinion not a fact.

You think it’s logical to say that because Harry Kane made it, Sessengon will.
Beyond pathetic reasoning.

My logic is that I think he’s crap and I don’t care if he’s 18 and crap or 25 and crap.
I want better than what we have.....I don’t want signings that might be ok in 4 years.

I thinks it’s hard to judge Sessengon on this season. He’s played in a team that was poorly managed by 3 separate managers. I think in the right team he’d perform a lot better.

I see what you mean by wanting players that are ready now though, and I agree. We need players that can step in immediately and improve us. That’s why we should be looking at the likes of Tielemans, Zaha and Wan Bissaka for example.
