I don't think it's about the funds, I think we're absolutely awful at getting deals done. Both when selling and buyingNah - the fact that as it stands Eriksen and Alderweireld will both be leaving, we'll definitely spend.
Whether we spend that money well or not obviously remains to be seen.
Wasn't that the same thing you were arguing for when you wanted to spend 80m on Callum WilsonSo you’ve basically said that if we spent 175M on Charlie Adam, that would be what counts, not his ability.
And you actually believe that to be true.
You just make up these fantasies, it's crazy. None of the things you've written there are trueScott and John etc were correct when we sold Kane and Dele.
Then when Kane and Dele signed new contracts, they were still right because contracts mean nothing and it was just to bump up their price.
They were then right when they said Poch would leave. They read between the lines.
Then when Poch signed it meant nothing.
Then Poch was lied to and tricked into signing and would leave by the end of the summer window.
They were still right by November though because we would finished 12th and Poch would leave in January.
He would join Real, but they were still right when Real took Zidane back because he would definitely join Utd this summer.
They were still right though when Ole got the full time job, and now they are right that the club had been destroyed by Levy and the CL semis and 3rd is fucking shit.
Who’d have known.
I bet if we sign him you'll be on his back for every little mistake he makes. You're ego is massive, you can't handle being wrongHe’s 18 and he’s crap. If he was 22 and crap, would you want him?

The players, as always and irrespective of our league place, that will sign with Spurs are the players who feel like the wages we're offering is a good wedge compared to what they've had/can get. Its shocking how much our supporters keep deluding themselves that most footballers A) want to play in a pretty stadium B) care about a club's ambition C) have an overriding desire to win glory.don't matter what we say its what Levy thinks that matters, If we manage to hold on to the top 4 Levy 's position in not buying anyone is vindicated (look we didn't need players) if we don't get top 4 how much will Levy spend with us in EL & who would come here ? I feel if we make top 4 a lot of players here will think why bother staying here the club have no ambition

Its a business, and players are in the business of selling their services in exchange for as much money as possible in order to spend the second half of their lives at ease. Funny, Man U, woolwich, chavs, and Liverpool have all recently managed to recruit players to EL teams - in many cases the same players being drooled over on here.
Players want money. Making £180k pw and playing EL in a half empty bowl is going to be a lot more attractive to 95% of footballers than making £120k pw and playing CL in the shiniest stadium in the world. They're humans too - how many here would stay/move to a company they "like" for 66% of the compensation? No one, that's the answer.
Double your money & win medals & get new team mates periodically. But I am still praying he stays.Eriksen is interested in playing for other clubs. That's why he hasn't committed his long term future here.
Only I didnt....isn’t it funny when the “spend big” crew don’t want to spend big anymore...Wasn't that the same thing you were arguing for when you wanted to spend 80m on Callum Wilson

Right now he’s a crap Fulham player.I bet if we sign him you'll be on his back for every little mistake he makes. You're ego is massive, you can't handle being wrong
Feels a lot like last summer. Talks of big spending etc, but I still have absolutely zero faith that we'll be able to get deals over the line
Well, sure, there are footballers that just want to play for the club they love, win things, have a solid perspective on the relative value of money and consider it less of a priority. Kane seems to be one such player. But they're pretty rare, and they also tend to stick with a club the blossom at - so you're buying them young and growing them.Granted they represent a minority of the mainstream, but such people exist.
Albeit in the context of a career change, I've done just that.
No offense, but I hate this assumption that EVERYONE is driven by money and wealth.
You are assuming that Kane will stick around for the rest of his career but is he going to want to keep winning nothing with semi final and a top four finish as the summit of his ambition, I would think the answer is no and that at some point will look to find a club that can fulfill his ambitions and can you blame him.Well, sure, there are footballers that just want to play for the club they love, win things, have a solid perspective on the relative value of money and consider it less of a priority. We're generalizing, obviously, and talking about players who in the middle of their careers are seeking a switch. Even then, if you're prioritizing trophies as a player then the odds say go to City. Historically speaking you would choose United. You'll also make more money there than elsewhere. So that leaves Liverpool, chavs, woolwich and Spurs - none seem anymore a guarantee of success year to year than the others, Liverpool has shine now and woolwich and chavs had recent success. All could make the CL next year, all could be in the EL. 3 of those will pay significantly more than the 4th.
And this isn't to have a dig at Levy...I still think the way he runsthe club is right. But we're just going to miss iut on players to our rivals, because its inconceivable that we can cobble together a competitive club out of the slim minority of players that don't have money as one of their highest priorities.
