Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Our squad for next season including returned loanees and “coming of age” academy players totals 27. 17 non-HG and 10 HG.
Vorm, GKN, Janssen, Aurier and Lamela leaving would give us 12 non-HG. So, Poch could in theory buy 5 non-HG (or up to 7 if Toby and CE also leave).
I think Onomah and KWP will be loaned so if he decides on the HG route in theory, he could buy 5 HG (or up to 8 if we buy U 21 Sessegnon and “sacrifice” CCV and Amos).
I’m undecided about Trippier and Wanyama but I would keep all the other players and hope Toby and CE stay.

Players in: this may be unrealistic, but hay. Rabiot - i think we have to bust a gut to get this guy! He’s total class, CL quality player, top 4 class. Plus he’s a fighter.
Rabiot has a reputation for being a bit of a bellend.

The fact that he refused to be a stand-by for France at the World Cup because he didn't get selected for the squad tells me everything I need to know about him. Puts himself before the team. Let alone the rumours that he thought he was too good to join us last year.

He could have all the the talent in the world but if he's as much of a cunt as people seem to think he is, I don't want him anywhere near our beautiful club.

I largely agree with this, but will say that he fired his mother and hired a new agent, and is available for free. We should at least reach out to see if he's matured after the Barca debacle.

If he hasn't, then hard pass.

I think there are other midfielders who would be available for much less, but who would be better for us (Florian Grillitsch, come on down).

I think the biggest problems we face are more down to convincing Mauricio about particular players than our finding or paying for them. All the factual public information we have shows that we actually had identified a fair amount of good talent last summer who would have been the right choices. We were unlucky not to sign them as weird circumstances in each case blocked us.

The rumours I've heard from people who I trust as sources (which means nothing and all of this could be pure bullshit), however give me pause. Allegedly there were several other very good players we had the chance to sign, both last summer, and in January, but Mauricio vetoed those players. Levy backed the manager by not forcing those players on him. However, it concerns me as I think that Mauricio was emphatically wrong to not sign those players, and it gives me the feeling that while he may be a genius in other areas, transfers are not Pochettino's forte, and perhaps his strong opinions may actually hurt our ability to rebuild as we need to.

Very droll.

"Let's sign shit players" said no-one.

Clearly I'm concerned with player attributes.
As I'm sure we all are but come on mate he's not fackin' good enough. I also undoubtedly think player for player he'd be one of the easiest and cheapest players in the squad to upgrade, the problem will be getting someone to buy him.

Look at Lucas for example. 20 odd million is all he cost yet he's a league above Lamela. That's all we need in Lamela's position. A player with a bit of pace and who can cause the opposition some form of concern in an attacking sense, not a player who's main 'attribute' is passhun and running around like a lunatic picking up yellows and giving away stupid fouls.

The fact that Lamela isn't very good at football is also something I don't like.
I rate Lamela. Always have done and always will do. He is capable of stuff that most professional players aren't. He has pace, skill and flair. It's just unfortunate that his body is about as resilient as an 90 year-old woman's.

Lamela with the assist, Dolphin with the finish.

Cute little flicked pass to Sonny.

Ridiculous rabona against Asteras in the Europa League (2014)

I'd love to see him fit for an entire season and used week in, week out. But again, if he's injured all the time it isn't going to happen.

Can we not talk about the Roma fella?

(I'm aware there are pre-existing opinions about Erik.... My whole line of questioning was kinda designed to avoid them funnily enough.)

This one looks to be gathering legs, could well be our Eriksen replacement.

I must confess I know absolutely zilch about the guy, other that he's supposedly very highly rated, but I'd be slow to be exited about a big signing from Italy again after Lamela.

Anyone have any insight into what he's like?

More like a Lamela replacement than an Eriksen one.

The only viable Eriksen replacements on the market happen to be Julian Brandt and James Maddison. And Pochettino allegedly already turned down Maddison once...

I'd only sign a player from Roma again if they agreed a refund for the faulty goods we've previously purchased from them.

Like Maddison but take Brandt all day - especially if that 22m buyout is true.

The other option is to add a quality 8 and a quality AM/ACM and accept that we aren't going to be the same. So add someone like Fekir, who can play anywhere in the front 3/4, will assist and create in the same kind of numbers as Eriksen and add a good "8" like Tielemans or Aouar who will also create/score more than Sissoko.

N'domebele, Brandt, Atal, NOT Grealish.

FYP

Some times that comes down to just not fitting in at a club/their style. Or just not fitting in the league. Kovacic usually plays centrally for Madrid but has had to play on the flank for Chelsea right?

Kovacic has always been an 8 or 6/8 hybrid which is what he is at Chelsea LM8 in a CM3.

Sarri has played everyone out of position to accommodate Jorginho.

He's only really played Kante out of position to accommodate Jorginho.

He's played Hazard as a false 9, but that's nothing to do with Jorginho.
