Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Obviously a fan of NDombele, who's more of a 6/8 hybrid, but would also love us to go after a decent footballing 6 as a priority - Diawara, 21 and won't cost a fortune, or Weigle, 23 and also won't cost a fortune would be great options.

I think we will sort Sessegnon quickly. Relatively straightforward if Pochettino wants him and the player wants to come. Leave to Levy to negotiate a fee.

A central defender will follow as will 2 central midfielders.

My gut instinct is that happens before anything happens with Eriksen and Alderweireld.

As you can tell this is written still in the entrails of the euphoric state of yesterday's results.

I'd love to see him fit for an entire season and used week in, week out. But again, if he's injured all the time it isn't going to happen.
Mate do you not remember the 14/15 and 15/16 seasons? He wasn't injured once during either of them but still flattered to deceive in the majority of games.

Yes Erik is a great guy and yes his love and passion for Spurs is unquestionable but that cannot mask the fact that if we want to move up a level we can't have passengers like him in the squad, injured or not.

Isn't Weigl kind of like a German Dier? Not trying to be funny but that's generally the impression I've gotten from him any time I've seen him play, which granted hasn't been loads of times.

Rabiot has a reputation for being a bit of a bellend.

The fact that he refused to be a stand-by for France at the World Cup because he didn't get selected for the squad tells me everything I need to know about him. Puts himself before the team. Let alone the rumours that he thought he was too good to join us last year.

He could have all the the talent in the world but if he's as much of a cunt as people seem to think he is, I don't want him anywhere near our beautiful club.
Umm, yes, he is abit of a twat! I think if his ego/personality can be rained in - maybe give him a role within the squad like the main man in the midfield he could be a huge asset. But yes the whole Liverpool supporter thing was highly annoying. I’d take a punt, his quality is good. Some of the shite we’ve been linked with in midfield doesn’t inspire me as I think we lack there, especially after we lost the sheer class Dembele.

Talented kid. But he is on his first season of top flight football so maybe a bit hasty to declare him a certified superstar. More of a dribbler than Eriksen and lacks his eye for that pass that opens up a defense. Had a good season with Roma scoring 6 in all comps.

I agree that it's early days for him, but given where we are on the food chain this is the kind of deal we have to go for - a bit of a gamble on promise that's earlier than the other top clubs want to try.

I suppose a parallel (not just because he's at Roma) could be Lamela - but I think his injuries and the initial burden of being seen as a Bale replacement make that whole transfer hard to judge. A fully fit Lamela could have been amazing for us.

Fuck yes. Diawara is very much the signing Spurs make on the quiet while everyone else is distracted by Ndombele.

If we managed to sign the latter then I'd polish Levy's head myself (oo err), but it's surely a long shot - and one that we desperately need to avoid getting sucked into for the entire window. We need transfers done in time for some pre-season wherever possible.

Like Maddison but take Brandt all day - especially if that 22m buyout is true.

The other option is to add a quality 8 and a quality AM/ACM and accept that we aren't going to be the same. So add someone like Fekir, who can play anywhere in the front 3/4, will assist and create in the same kind of numbers as Eriksen and add a good "8" like Tielemans or Aouar who will also create/score more than Sissoko.
I have seen this episode before,go after Fekir and end up with feck all!

I have a sneaky feeling that we're not talking about the type of head you put a hat on...

Tielemans was the other guy I'd heard Mauricio turned down, this January...

But yeah, I'd sign Aouar in a hot second. The kid looks like a proper talent who can do either the 8 or 10 thing for us with flair.

Not sure how Napoli or Dortmund would part with their players for anything less than very healthy fees. They're not starved for cash, so can say no when others might not.

Neither player is getting regular football (Diawara has played 600 minutes this season - and Weigle is only being used as an emergency CB due to injuries as Witzel has taken his place).

Pretty sure Diawara has been touted (or has a buy out) of no more than 30-35m Eur?
