Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Janssen, GKN, Lamela and Trippier are the ones we should shift this summer. As much as Wanyama hasn't looked the same since the injury and some people don't rate Davies, I think it's unrealistic to expect such a big clear out as we'd then need to get even more players in. A new right back and two CM's should be our priority (a CB if dreamy Toby leaves).
I don't get the issue with Davies. I think we can assume that Rose is now back to being first choice and has ended the season reasonably well, and more importantly, he's stayed fit and injury free. This puts Davies back into the backup position, in which he's perfectly acceptable. Most teams would kill for a back up LB of that standard. Lolpool have moreno and milner ffs.

Yeh I know but if we lose Eriksen then Isco as part of the deal would be about as like for like for Eriksen as you can get and we’d have a bit of cash left over.

Hopefully he’ll stay though.
It is not. Isco is a stylish close control dribbler who slips in little passes and play quick combos - and doesn’t tend to pull the trigger from distance nor cross the ball early from an inside channel position - his style is like the 2 Silva’s or prime Mata and Özil.

We need a more efficient player who can provide quicker service to take advantage of the runs of the likes of Dele and Kane’s nous in the box or set Son off on quick counters, which is what Eriksen or De Bruyne. I’m very big on James Maddison for this reason. He’s very close to Eriksen in style.

The big factor we aren’t considering is the Levy factor! The man is notorious when it comes to deals, I just really wish the club would push on with at least one marque signing this summer! And no I don’t mean Grealish or Sessongon, someone who will come into the first team and change us for the better. Only problem is that type of player costs you 70m + these days and levy just won’t pay that sort of fee.

I’ve also been wondering about our recruitment lately as a general thing, we seem to be getting it wrong more than right lately. Sure we’ve got lucky with bargains like Dele, but there’s been more of Auriers, Lamelas and Janssens thrown into that mix. Do people think our scouting is wrong is it coming from above, I.e. board telling scouts we only want players that are gonna cost x amount? I know every clubs wants bargains but does the cost have to be the main factor, sometimes I am not sure our rivals think the same, certainly not Utd or chelski.

- Lamela is 2 managers and one director of football ago compared to Serge & Vin. Hampered by injury.
- Vin perfectly fit the profile of players we needed at the time.
- Serge represented someone of quality who still had room to improve. Most were rather excited by his purchase when made.

Unfortunately much of this kind of shit is done behind the scenes (and subsequently blurred by all the media & ITK bullshit) so it's hard to asses to any deal of accuracy what goes on with the whys and wherefores behind the deals.

My suspicion is that we should put more effort into our scouting, but hard to 'prove' this.

He’s better than Ok and if people are talking about Maddison as an extra AM then you will get arguably a better and cheaper player in that position. Of course it’s not going to give us a title run.

We work on Tottenham budgets not Liverpool and City’s, if we were i’d be looking at different players.
Grealish is apparently valued at 60m mate, if you’d be willing to pay even 40m for him I really don’t know what to say. You can buy a much better player for 40m. If we can get him for 25m max then cool, anything over that is overpaying.

Ben's class. Suckas don't know this.

I don't have the stats but we had different players so it's not relevant. Right now we are missing Harry Kane big time.
What different players?
We´ve barely signed anyone

As far as I know, our attack consisted of Eriksen, Son, Dele and Llorente last season too, when Kane was out.
The season before, when Kane was out, we had Dele, Eriksen, Son and Janssen.

Two common demoninators in there whos poor form might account for the recent losses, where we were winning games without Kane earlier, when they played well.

Just wondering how many players people want because the main feeling I get on this forum is that:
Dier, Trippier, Davies, Wanyama, Llorente, Sanchez, Janssen are not good enough.

Moura, Sissoko, Winks, KWP are just squad back up

Foyth, Skipp aren’t ready yet

Toby, Eriksen are off

Leaving us with Dele, Kane, Son, Jan, Rose, Lloris. I think some of you might melt a bit this summer when your fantasies are not realised.
We're top 4 and in the CL semis.

Fire everyone!

:troll:

For what it's worth, my take on it is...

Desired outgoings - Janssen, Vorm, N'Koudou, Llorente (probably)

Outgoings against our will - Alderweireld, Eriksen

'Painful' outgoings to improve the team - one of Dier/Wanyama, one of Trippier/Aurier, remote chance of Davies

Now, it's not like all these need replacing given how much Poch has ignored some of them (see: N'Koudou and Janssen), but there could definitely be a substantial recruitment job if Toby and Eriksen end up going.

Essential incomings - new RB, new CM

Incomings if Toby and Eriksen leave - new CB, new CAM

Smart additions if we want to improve - new CAM anyway (even if Eriksen stays, we need an alternative like Grealish to keep him on his toes and prevent burnout), a new striker who can come on for Kane at 70 mins if required.

So really it could be anywhere between 2 and 6 incomings (maybe more if we buy some prospects), and I think the club would do well to be bringing in closer to the latter number than the former.

Yeah, I think this is just about perfect. I would just add a couple things

1. It bears repeating, the two best signings we can make this offseason are Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen. If we lose those players we will pay extensively in either replacement costs or lost points (which ARE financial assets, that IS a real fiscal cost), or both. The cheapest option is almost certainly meeting their wage demands.

2. With Vorm leaving we need a homegrown GK to take that spot, and I'm not sure our youth ranks can provide one at the moment.

3. In general, we need to sort out our squad nationality construction situation.
