That just won’t happen even if Toby and Eriksen leave.
Say they do leave, then I don’t see us signing a CB after investing some 60M in Foyth and Sanchez. And rightly so, they need to be moulded into top players.

Aurier, Tripper and KWP...I can see Trippier going to Everton where he’ll do well, KWP is 50/50 whether he gets a shot next year, but the signs point to a loan.
I can see us shaping Foyth into a RB before we sign one to be honest.

Eriksen will be replaced, and I can see us going in for Grealish again for silly money. Don’t know if Rabiot is still an option but I think the club would address this departure seriously.
(I’m fully aware that Rabiot is different but apparently Eriksen is irreplaceable so we have to change our style of play)

Janssen will probably go, but I can see us just sticking with Kane and Llorente up top, and maybe give Sterling a number.

Dembele should be replaced of course, but just don’t see Dier or Wanyama moving on.
Maybe Skipp loaned out and a CM signed (Rabiot two birds one stone)

So in short I could see us signing an absolute maximum 2 players.

I honestly don’t think the club agree with the hysterics over our central midfield and full backs.
Unfortunately I have admit I agree with pretty much everything you have just said ! The hype will end in complete anti climax..probably.

I’ve always believed that the stadium will free up funds, as was planned.

People lost their shit that we didn’t spunk a couple gazillion while paying for Wembley and not knowing the final costs of the new ground.
And they are quick to completely ignore the new contracts for Poch, Kane and Dele..( fat lot of use Deles pay rise was)

I’ll be honest, this second half of the season has been poor, and as I said in January a striker and Dembele replacement should have been signed.
We pulled it off, but it could have been worse.
A mixture of our squad digging deep, and some of our rivals being fairly shit considering they outspent is by hundreds of millions, played at home, and didn’t have the injuries we did.

But THIS coming window is not the same as the last summer window.
THIS window we need to make changes based on the season we just had.

People will slag off Levy for last year, and berate Trippier, and Dier etc etc, but to reach the CL semis, knocking out City, spanking Dortmund and coming through that group the way we did just goes to show they were wrong about last summer.

You cannot predict being surpassed by our rivals, and the when we finish top 4 dismiss it and say “well next year they’ll be better”.

We gambled, and we won. Battered and bruised, with some luck and a lot of determination.

Whatever happens now, barring a 9 goal swing with Woolwich on Sunday, the season has been a success. Our target was top 4, we all know that, and the squad was rightly deemed good enough to get there.

I don't think anyone was "right" because I don't think it was a grand plan not to buy anyone, if we'd managed to shift bodies, we'd have brought some new ones in.

Who did we try and sell?

Janssen, Nkoudou, Sissoko, Alderweireld, Rose, Wanyama, Dembele???

"Daniel Levy explained that the club had based the summer window on certain assumptions that some players might be leaving and certain targets would be available," read the minutes.

Fuck the assumptions and get yer wallet out

Doesn't work like that. This ain't Football Manager, you buffoon. I agree he needs to splash some cash, but still need to offload players. We can't afford to keep players around paying their wages, that aren't going to be of use. End of discussion, goodbye, the end.

I would agree if we had a 35 man squad of full professionals. But we dont, it's very streamlined and efficient in numbers. For example if last summer we wanted to replace Dembele and had a chance to sign his replacement, would it hAve been right to wait until Dembele was sold or sign the replacement without knowing when Dembele would have been sold

We just needed to add 2 maybe 3 quality players last summer. We could have done that without having to sell first then buy. If this crazy thinking makes me a buffoon then i accept it
