Which we got while our league form fell off a cliff.

We need back-up and IMHO improvement in areas to push on. The CL final run has been a shock to many including ourselves (lets be honest); but it is now a level we don't want to drop from. There is only one way to ensure that.
Completely agree with you, we've gave everything and more for the Champions League, it's now up to us to win it and bring in some players for our Premier League form

it was tongue in cheek. But...it is a fact. Maybe its a new model other clubs will replicate. Had we not had such a crazy amount of injuries and a stoopid World Cup we may have done even better in the league. Who knows!

He really isn’t. He’s been one of Everton’s best players this season. Calm on the ball, moves it quickly and can pick a pass. Exactly the sort of player Spurs need.
I think we learned something important midweek, if we do that lovely possession football until 30 yards out and then try and go side to side waiting for an opening, more often than not an attack will simply grind to a halt. The top of our list should be someone who can open up a flat back line. After Wednesday, where we changed tactics and didn't play that slow build up, I'd be gutted to see us revert to type and struggle again.

N’dombele -Yes
Andre Gomes- No: haven’t seen anything of him that makes me excited. He doesn’t seem like someone that would improve the first 11.

Our current midfielders should be the depth and we should be buying to improve the first 11.

Gomes is not at all what we need. Average at best PL player who really only brings a few attributes. He is a poor mans winks who is going to cost us 30 mil despite having little upside and limited value. There are tons of better midfielders we could buy who would cost less or similar prices (berge, grillitsch, diawara, even grealish) that he is taking the place of who all are much younger with higher upside.

He will be fine as a bench player for us I guess but does not improve us much at all and the opportunity cost seems pretty high.

Just me, or does Gomes have a bit of the 'Adam Levine' about him?
:sonhmm:

He's not better than what we have at the moment in the starting team - I mean Sissoko and Winks. So why the fuck pay 30m for him?
NDombele is a different story though, would be a good addition and I hope he'll choose Spurs if more clubs are interested in him.

Gomes had a classic 'first season' in the EPL ... started his season well in late October, then the cold weather set in.

His first really poor game was against us when he was dragged off early in the second half ... his form dipped and he didn't play much end Feb early March ... a combination of no winter break and cold weather did for him ... however once rested he was going well again until his three game ban for stamping on a Fulham player. If he plays on Sunday it will be his first game for three weeks (might still be suspended)

For a player whose whole career to date has been in sunny Southern Europe the first season in a cold, wet EPL plus no winter break would have been a huge shock to the system ... but now he's been there done that so just maybe his second season, as a Spurs player, will see his very obvious talent coming through ...

One final thought, this lad is a winner, won the treble with Benfica, League and Cup with Barca, and both the U19 European Championship, and the European Championship with Portugal ... for 30m what's not to like?

Grealish is who we need for this. He will break the line between midfield and attack, run with the ball and pick the pass that is needed.

He's completely different to Sissoko, Sissoko is a player who can win the ball and just run. There isn't really any end product to Sissoko, the odd good pass. He's just great a t breaking up play. Winks and Gomes are similar. Wink's passing is maybe better, but both very good players. We have learnt the hard way that Winks is injury prone, so having a player who can rotate with him is vital. We don't have that at the moment, which has led to Sissoko and Dier/Wanyama playing centre mid and having Eriksen drop deeper meaning his threat going forward is prevented.

I agree we still need a player like NDombele. We also need a CAM, RB and ST.
