We do need depth with Dembele / Wanyama (possibly Dier, although I am hopeful the drop in form is temporary ) all gone - for the price its good for depth. Would be disappointed if it was first team player.Anyone else feel a little underwhelmed by the Andre Gomes (potential) transfer news ?!![]()

His arse tattooed on your face would show a higher level of commitment.Furry muff.
I'm going to get Andre Gomes's face tattooed on me arse then.

I'm in no way a Gomes authority but started to watch him when we were first linked to him, all this means is when I've seen Everton play I've singled him out.how sure are you of this? When I saw him I didn't see him as a tempo setter but an expansive passer - a more mobile Thudd. Admitedly only seen him a few times
Ziyech is good but I for the life of me can't stand his cunty look.
I bow to your view, mine was based mainly when they stuffed Woolwich 1-0 and he seemed like a more mobile Thudd, but they gave him so much space it may not be representative.I'm in no way a Gomes authority but started to watch him when we were first linked to him, all this means is when I've seen Everton play I've singled him out.
For me, it's more a case of what he doesn't do rather than what he does.
What I've seen is a player that does what Winks does, loads of short passes between CB's and FB's and linking with both the wider positions in midfield. In a possession based team this is important and a role that Winks and Dier both do (I might add too much criticism as fans don't understand when the team needs to take control of the game to rest or to attempt to move the oppo into a position to exploit). He's good at this but it is quite simplistic.
However, like Dier he can be pressed into a mistake (Winks has the ability to keep the ball when pressed). I've never seen him dribble the ball, and it is this skill that I think we are crying out for. (Winks attempts to dribble and has lost possession frequently when doing so but his best attribute is driving with the ball into a pocket of space rather than taking on an opponent 1v1). Winks has a far better range of passing too, much more variety. SO, whenever I saw him play he attempts just two types of (non-tempo pass), a diagonal ball behind the oppo FB space or a straight ball (forwards) into the feet of an AM/ST, but this was limited to no more than a couple per game, Dier attempts more than this. Now, given Everton's shite form perhaps this meant that he wasn't taking as many risks with an incisive pass???
The player who he reminds me of most is Mason, but played a bit deeper.
As others have said, if we are getting him and N'Dombele (or that ilk, Fekir is another I like all be it he plays more advanced) that would be fantastic business for us. He will add quality to the 2nd tier of midfield. But without singing a ball carrier, someone that can break the oppo lines then I'm just a bit Meh.
As I say it's more about what he doesn't do and what I think we need rather than him individually. I think there are lots of players like him around.
Yep that game is a good shout actually. Woolwich played right into their hands if I recall they were playing wide using their FB's, which meant the middle of the pitch was basically a void, also Everton's FB's won their 1v1's turning over their possession frequently (I think Digne is a top FB), their narrow midfield of Gomes, Sigurdson and Gueye outnumbered the bubble headed midget cunt and Elninny.I bow to your view, mine was based mainly when they stuffed Woolwich 1-0 and he seemed like a more mobile Thudd, but they gave him so much space it may not be representative.
For depth, he’s a yes. I think he’s OK. But we all know this is a huge summer ahead for us in the transfer market. I guess a lot will depend on whether or not we are European champions by then, but I am hoping for a slightly higher calibre of player. Especially in midfield, as you say we are a little light thereWe do need depth with Dembele / Wanyama (possibly Dier, although I am hopeful the drop in form is temporary ) all gone - for the price its good for depth. Would be disappointed if it was first team player.
No through balls, even with Richarlison and Walcott to aim at? Yeesh.stats stats stats
Onto passing and it’s almost a clean sweep for the Spurs man in that regard. As already mentioned he leads Gomes for assists and key passes per game. He also averages more passes per game, 45.8 compared to 44.2 and has a better overall passing accuracy. He also posts more crosses per game.
Gomes leads when it comes to long balls per game, 3.5 compared to 1.4, and the pair on level when it comes to through balls, with neither player registering one so far.

I saw a couple of bits of games where he looked so poor as well - he had a period through spring where he looked so slow and I would have run a mile.Good player Gomes, stood out every time I've watched Everton, technically excellent on the ball. Adds to the squad which is most important. We just need quality depth in certain positions.
but we also need more depth and this would be a cheap good option. We need much more than just "depth" at CM and defensive mid, we need upgrades. Same for RB
I think he is playing deeper so his passing to the wingers is not considered a through ball -No through balls, even with Richarlison and Walcott to aim at? Yeesh.
Through balls are something I think we're lacking anyway, so it's concerning if Gomes didn't come in and add that - especially considering that spreading the ball would kinda be his job.
Hmm. Perhaps I misunderstood how rigid the definition of through ball was. FIFA has ruined me.I think he is playing deeper so his passing to the wingers is not considered a through ball -
Through Ball- An attempted/accurate pass between opposition players in their defensive line to find an onrushing teammate (running through on goal)
You would imagine his releasing Bernard and Richarlison would be long balls.

ahh - if you played pro evo you would have known.Hmm. Perhaps I misunderstood how rigid the definition of through ball was. FIFA has ruined me.
