Injury ravaged and missing Son via an accumulation of yellows, were we not? Eriksen & Dele hardly in stellar form either as we entered both 2nd legs.....

Sure Kane or Sonny may have been a preferable option... Then again Messi would have been useful too, but he wasn't available to us either.

FFS, Llorente delivered when we needed him most. Slay Poch for the tactics if you must, but surely Nando can catch a break on that front?
I think blakey's a city fan.....

It is pretty much Poch I'm slaying on this one. I think Llorente did what it says on his tin in that Ajax away game, I just think reaching for the tin means some cunt's emptied the fridge of Camembert and quince jelly.

Yeh yeh, nicely phrased and all, but what was all that crap about playing someone else instead? You know the statement I highlighted when quoting you.....

Listen, I would love nothing more than to take the piss outta Five Five because he's a total knobhead but he does have a point. And I'm a little cross with you for making me defend that bellend.:pochlol: But he does have a point. Janssen was signed and doesn't fit. As were N'jie, GKN, and a few others. Clearly he meant that Nando is not dynamic enough and I believe his mobility has fallen below most folks' expectations. Except bus-conductor bus-conductor who wants to go back to that Serie A well.

Uhhh, it is exactly a false dichotomy. There are many other ways we could have changed our play without putting Llorente on. We could have had Hugo do headstands it goal, Sonny and Lucas play as a 3-legged striker, or any other change. but you have whittled all these potential tactical changes down to 2 options ie a false dichotomy.

Straw man. I believe you are mischaracterizing Five Five 's position. And now you have made me defend that bellend again. :pochcry:

We all know this Rondon dogma is just your tactical Trojan horse, from which you are going to leap out with a ouija board, re-animate Graham Taylor and have us playing "Proper"up and at it football, which you will control from your multi stream-screen lair whilst wearing your Luther Blissett under pants.

We didn't have to play Llorente, just because Son was out. We could have started Sissoko (or Foyth or Skipp) in midfield and had Alli as a false 9.

Poch evidently didn't feel Sissoko had 90 in his legs otherwise he would have started.... Anyway I thought he was shit????

Hugo & Back 4 +
Sissoko (see above) / Skipp / Wanyama
Lucas / Dele(*) / Eriken(*)
(*Both in poor form.... )

That's your answer to sexier football in that game?

You say this with such conviction that you're prepared to question Llorente's presence in a bare bones XI?

Good job that at least the boffins are on the case and focussed on what's important..... Hope Poch has got you on speed dial. :llorishuh:

We won the tie FFS.

Not hard to be sexier than that first 45 against Ajax was it? I mean, my solution might not have been the full tummy tuck, arse lift and vaginal tidying, but could have at least been perkier tits.

Tottenham have ended their interest in signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfied Zaha, 26, after being put off by the Ivory Coast international's £100m valuation. (Evening Standard)

But Spurs have held talks to sign Celta Vigo'sUruguayan striker Maxi Gomez, 22, who has a £43m release clause in his contract. (Star)

Again, lovely way with words, but aren't you essentially condoning style (sexier) over substance (the fact that we prevailed over two legs in a HUGE tie despite a massively depleted squad?)...

Of course... You were the guy that celebrated said hyper-dramatic victory by leaping on line to tell everyone how you'd have done it differently.

It slightly bothers me that we have been wasting our time with Zaha, he was always going to be way too expensive for what he could add to our squad, the people at the club should've known that as well.

His team mate Wan-Bissaka is much more interesting.

I'm talking about the first leg, I really don't see the substance in watching them outplay us, beat us at our place with an away goal. A performance which was a few seconds away from costing us a place in a final.

I didn't jump on the internet I was on here all that night, I actually said we weren't playing as bad as some were saying at HT. And then afterwards said we lack a bit of brains and composure at times, but this team has always had bollocks under Poch.

I'm really not sure why that put a bug so far up your arse.

We were in the final of the CL FFS

Likely we haven't wasted any time..... Prob just rehashing prev. interest.....

"No trf til after CL" etc.

Then again...

"Phew... We've managed to keep hold of our talisman....."

[relief]

"...Of course you can have AWB for £30m"
