All this talk of LoCelso and Fernandes at 60/70m, if we'd got our shit together we could have had Brandt for 20m who could have covered that 8/AM remit.

I wish we'd just get a couple of proper 6 or 6/8's sorted now before fucking about on anything else . Diawara and Ndombele would be nice, but if not we need to move early and go after alternatives like Kessie, Weigle, Rabiot, Maxi Lopez, Aouar

I'm not averse to the idea of LoCelso, liked him a lot at PSG, but if we are looking at him as a kind of Lamela replacement, I'd hope - if we are chucking serious money - we would also be looking at Pepe or Fekir for that kind of attacking left footed, right sided - also can play as forward - remit.

Liverpool have chased both and offered neither of them more than 100k pw I've read.

As long as we get 2/3 proper midfielders first. Got to be the priority.

Diawara (Weigle), Ndombele (Kessie), (Rabiot)Lopez, (Pepe)Fekir, Sessegnon, Atal (?) - would be my ideal window.

Outs: TA, Eriksen, Sissoko, Lamela, Trippier (if we are going to keep KWP), Aurier (if we get Atal in), Wanyama, Llorente, Janssen, Nkoudou,

Wow...when suggested Lopez here a few weeks ago, one poster really laid into me...I'll try to remember who...I think Lopez would fit perfectly

Agreed. Although I have to admit I don't fully understand the CL registration process.

25 man squad.
4 need to be club-trained.
4 more need to be nation-trained.
Any of these slots that can't be filled deduct from the 25 man squad max.
The rest can be foreign. Any number of U21 players who have spent at least 2 years at the club do not need to be registered (my memory is slightly hazy on this point).
Last season we could only register 22 total because of these issues.
In my mind, being able to fill out a full 25 man roster would be huge for the club from a fitness/rotation standpoint.

Thanks for the clarification. It's difficult being on call cause you never get a night's uninterrupted sleep and your memory gives up.
Thanks for your courtesy..

Just a thought, of our best players, how many messy, drawn-out, big-money transfer dramas were there in the whole lot?

Lloris was certainly that, Sissoko as well, there were some hurt Southampton feelings about Toby but it was all wrapped up rather quickly.

It's not many.

I've suggested him for a long time, going back a year or two. Really tidy little player, tenacious, dynamic, technically excellent, goodish vision, hard worker. And would not cost as much as some of the players flashed all over the media. 21yo too. Hossam Aouar would be on the list too.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't buy into this bulshit that every deal we do is painful and everyone else just does easy business quickly. Even the uber boys struggle to get deals done.

I understand our financial parameters and the constraints that places on our transfer dealings - and the machinations of transfers in general. I get why they take time, why we sometimes have to be patient while clubs and players agents (and players) try to extract the best fee/club/wages for their players and we set a maximum fee/wage for that deal and sometimes have to wait for them all to align etc

I would just love us to prioritise some midfield business, and in an ideal fantasy world get a couple of them done early.

Lo Celso seems like he could be a lot better than Eriksen- has much, much better dribbling skills that can actually beat a man (unlike Eriksen). He looks to be faster than Eriksen by a significant amount too.
I just worry that he might not be effective out wide, though based on the above it seems like he'd at least better than Eriksen out wide. I want us to play Dele CAM as he is vital to our CL registration issues.
Dele doesn't seem to have the qualities to control games for us from that position.

You're full of shit.

See Danny Rose thinks he’s leaving this summer too....
That could be Trippier, Alderweirld, and Rose stripped out of our back four this summer....

If so, then imagine going into the season with this.....
Aurier Vertonghan Sanchez Davies......

God have mercy on our souls🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Wasn't that the EXACT back four that started the opening game last season against Newcastle when we won 2-1?

Vertoghen, Aurier and Sanchez missed half the season due to injury.

Better make that

KWP, Foyth, Dier, Davies
