Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You'd love to, maybe, but I'd love to be able to run a mile in ten seconds. I'm about as physically capable of doing that as you are of "smashing a whinny little cunt like me into pieces".

So shut up and sit down
Interesting choice of "what I'd love to be able to do" comparison...

I usually run with "I'd love to pleasure Scarlett Johansson for a weekend with an ever-hard ten-inch wang" but each to their own

I think it's pretty certain that if he can't get to barca or real then he would stay.

You think?

PSG long shot or Bayern definitely would turn his head somewhat.

Juventus would be hard to resist. Beyond those 2 or 3 not sure where the new challenge is found.

I would like to think we are readying an even better offer to him as plan A/B.

With us though, you really have no way of telling.

God forbid we hear Eriksen signing a new contract is as good as signing a new player!!!

Just to put things into context for you.

I talked to a guy who was involved in the Bale transfer to Madrid who said that once Spurs/Madrid/Bale and his agent had agreed the major terms of the transfer, it took between 2 and 3 weeks for the various advisors (lawyers, accountants, agents etc) to agree the final points of the deal sufficiently to put into a contract and the practical stuff (eg where was Gareth going to live until he got a permanent pad ). And Gareth was pretty laid back and not difficult, likewise his agent (Bartlet) was very professional and got on well with both Levy and Madid so no problems there either.

In short, transfers take time, and given Lyon were still trying to find alternative bidders a week or so ago, it would not surprise me at all to find the Ndombele contract isn't finally signed for another week or two - although I am pretty sure all Spurs supporters (and Spurs) would like it done this week, it may not be possible for logistical reasons.

That's the difference between playing Football Manager/FIFA and real life I am afraid.
Excellent points. It's not like you put down a piece of paper that says:

Will you play for Spurs?

________ Yes

________ No

Yea, well if we compare attack to defence - yes. Agreed, defence is more worrysome.
But you leave midfield out of the occasion. And this was where we suffered current season. Dier was weak, Wanyama is unfortunately finished, Winks had long injury... Sissoko, Alli and Eriksen are not much of DM's. So defence did not get much support from midfield either.

Other thing being -due to issues in midfield we did not control the game as well as we should have. And that helped teams to break through faster. Which put defence under lot more pressure then season or two ago.... so I'd say first sort out midfield issues. Then defence (1st issue being RB, if Toby leaves we might need CB as well).
Despite disagree to your priority, I can see your point and respect. Just hope we have enough to invest in our midfield and defence

I just hope whoever leaves or whoever we sign it is actually Pochettino’s decision and players he actually wants, and players he actually has a use for in a system he wants to play.......no more square pegs in round holes please!!

Who are you thinking about as square pegs?

Don't really have a problem with much of what you said here. And though you never stated this i would just like to be clear that my point was that he should not be an unquestioned starter. I would like to see his efforts with some competition in the squad.

What I will wholeheartedly disagree with is your assertion that Dele is a 'technically really good player'. I cannot disagree with this enough. Flicks and attempted tricks does not constitute a technically good players. His technique has been letting him down since day 1. Do you not remember the missed goal from 2 yards at Stoke? That was brutal but it wasn't the only failing of his technique. His many, many bumbled touches and inability to actually hit a ball has broken down many a move.

Christian Eriksen is an accomplished technical player. Eden Hazard is an accomplished technical player. David Silva, Bernardo, etc. These are players with reliable touches and passing. Dele is one step above Sissoko in technical ability IMO. And this is the reason that I don't have a higher ceiling for him than what we have already seen. He just doesn't have the reliable technique to be tactically flexible IMO.
Agree. But to be fair to Dele, it is more a Poch problem than his. I am delighted to have a player of his quality in the squad. But Poch's insistence to play him at the expense of more deserving players is frustrating

If Eriksen stays we still need to sign someone who can play his position we need options. Ndombele and Fernandes or Lo Celso should both be signed no matter what.

That right there is the issue I think. I'm pretty sure that if Eriksen wants out, that Pochettino would like Fernandes to replace him. With time being a factor the club finds itself in a tricky situation where we may lose it on Christians replacement if we don't no move for Fernandes soon. It's a tough one but with the Real/ Pogba updates this afternoon or the rumours at least it does leave Eriksen and the club in a bit of limbo.

We can't buy Fernandes without the Eriksen money, we can't sell Eriksen and not get Fernandes, something along those kind of lines it seems.

If I were the club I'd be putting this on the back burner or telling Eriksen he needs to sign or the option of staying at Spurs is off of the table. & mean it. The issue with that is leaving ourselves exposed to low balling based on our ultimatum making. The club needs to decide on what it would prefer more, a player who is keen on a future with us or one who is aprehensive to commit, even if he has greater quality.

If Eriksen is as sensitive as people close to him have made out then I see the Real Madrid knockback being a real kick in the teeth for him. Timongncould be everything on this one, I really don't know which way he'll go if the club he wants isn't up for him.

Dele has a knack for scoring big goals in big games, and also for missing sitters. Fully understand why poch picks him though.
He's a player I just don't see having a long term future at the club. I wouldn't be opposed to cashing in on him and Dier while they are still young England internationals.

He does have this great ability of beating offside traps. Hardly goes offside. But i kind of agree with you to sell if someone pays around 70 mils.

He's the kind of player Utd might pay double that for. Yeah everyone prefers selling abroad - but feel we could really rip them off for him.

Can guarantee he would score big goals against us though. Fucking Chelsea fan isn't he ?
