Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Scott - not sure if you understand but I will write it simply for you as you seem to be willfully ignoring my posts.

If the club decide to spend 200M I (and others) will be over the moon as they know what we have to spend, if they don't spend 200M I will not be calling for their heads as they know what they have to spend. This is the common theme, people are talking based on what they think the situation, you on we have that money others on we don't have that money.

There may be some that do not want us to spend the money because its wrong (I must have missed them) but all the posts I have seen have been in response to demands to pay whatever it takes and advising we don't have the same funds available as our competitors.
Honestly, some wouldn't be happy with us spending 200m this summer.

At the time I thought the 26M was a win win for us and Valencia - it made it look like we were willing to spend big and Valencia got loads of money for their captain. I would be surprised if it ever went above 19M.
don't know how true it was but i recall reading that our actual loss on him him was as little as £6-7m.

Some but it would be the vast minority (enough to ignore) and colouring all who are worried about the price being beyond our limits is boarder-line dishonest.
But now you are saying some are worried about overspending. So that = worrying about the buisness side & how much we spend. So are you now admitting some worry about the business side & how much we spend.

You said this not long ago
"No one cares about how much money we spend, they back what the club decides we can afford its pretty damn evident that's the case and your are chosing to ignore this."

Now this

"and colouring all who are worried about the price being beyond our limits is boarder-line dishonest"

I thought no one cared how much we spent. Now they are worried despite not caring.
1 minute it's No one cares about how much we spend. Then it's some are worried we spend above our limits.

You just keep changing to suit your agenda that no one cares if we spent 200m & everyone would be happy if we did. Which is evidently false.
Anyway, let's not go around in circles. You can believe everyone would be happy if we spend 200m & wouldn't care if we did. I am going to stick to my opinion some would care & be unhappy if we spent 200m.

Name names, you pussy....

Not sure how much truth there is to this but it basically says that Poch has telephoned Lo Celso to explain that £40m is all we can offer right now, until we sell players, possibly Eriksen.

Poch apparently also said to Celso that Spurs ‘don’t have much money to go to market’ but that will change if Eriksen gets sold.

Probably just bullshit but thought I would share anyway.
It's pretty well-respected news site, with proper hacks. A bit like a slightly lower-brow Huffington Post, but with a very good rep for financial news

no one - at any point 4 or 5 teams are good enough to win trophies, not everything needs to have blame attached.

Villa is a great example - they went balls deep supporting a manager and are still paying for it now.

I want us to spend like the richer clubs, I am sure you have seen this

I know its business but its the reason in black and white - as that gets closer we will spend like them and its getting closer and closer every year.

So basically, let me just clarify this, we are good enough to win a trophy but if we fail to win a trophy then nobody is to blame for us failing to win one? That makes no logical sense whatsoever.

You say 4-5 teams are good enough and yet, we aren't seeing 4-5 teams winning trophies are we? Not even in rotation.

We are seeing the same teams repeatedly winning trophies (minus the Leicester season) so there seems to be a pretty predictable pattern as to who will win a trophy and we aren't part of that pattern which would indicate we aren't good enough with our current squad, unless of course you think it's the manager underachieving? Which to me seems ludicrous considering he hasn't signed a player in 18 months.

It sounds to me like, no offense, you are just happy, regardless of what happens and you're willing to accept any outcome because the very idea of criticising the owners makes you uncomfortable and you would rather just accept what you are given than to challenge it because we are in a comfortable position currently.

There is ALWAYS someone to blame, it's the reason people get hired and fired.

I think it's absurd to believe we are getting "closer and closer" when that simply isn't the truth, Man City and the clubs above us could go out tomorrow and blow us away in the market, any rich billionaire could buy a club in this league tomorrow and take our place in the top 4, you see this long term model of "doing things the right way" as something that will pay off in the end, I see that as unhealthy optimism in a modern game that, more often than not, rewards the richest clubs who pay the most for players in terms of wages and fees.

I admire you optimism I really do but the reality speaks for itself, we won't win a major trophy (unless we get Leicester lucky) under our current model.

If we were to think logically though it may not be too far from the truth? When we first made that bid for Lo Celso weeks back perhaps we were pretty sure Eriksen was off, but now that Madrid have cooled their interest it's not such a pressing deal to get completed any more?
We need somebody whether he leaves or not, but if he leaves we need 2 players. Otherwise we are back with Eriksen having to play every minute of every game.
