Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't believe I am overplaying it, we barely scraped top 4 last season, and I mean barely, all the teams that finished just below us have added to their squads, we have also added Ndombele and I think that might just be enough to scrape top 4 again but do you really think it's worth taking that risk when we could strengthen? We have a serious issue at RB and we need some more creativity in the side, we also need to sort out Toby and Eriksen, one way or another, letting them go on a free would be inexcusibly stupid.

Also, when did top 4 become our only aim? Our manager wants to win trophies, he has made that abundantly clear, all last season he was sending messages to Levy both before and after our CL run, I am confident right now in saying that Poch is getting fed up with our transfer dealings and he will be off before long, people can think otherwise but there is no way he is going to be sticking around if we can't win trophies through lack of investment.

Why do you think he was saying he would leave if we had won the CL? It's because he knows under our current model and with our current side the chance of replicating a CL trophy win is almost completely improbable without letting our league form drop off a cliff.

I do believe it is make or break for us mate, that's the problem, I think people are very comfortable in saying "that's all fearmongering, it hasn't happened yet" when the reality is, the warning signs are there for all to see in regards to Poch, the truth is people should be asking why the best manager in most of our lifetimes isn't being supported the way he should be in this window and the previous 2 before this, Poch should be given players to help him mount a title challenge, to finally give this club a trophy after an 11 YEAR DROUGHT, instead he is getting just enough to get us back into the CL every season and even that is relying heavily on how great of a manager he is.

Losing either Toby or Eriksen on a free would be an absolute embarrassment, especially for someone who is regarded as a very good businessman, that isn't good business to me, that's throwing money down the drain and it's funny how the same people who don't want us spending loads of money in the window on players they don't think are worth it are the same ones ignoring the (possible) ineptitude of losing both those players on a free.

1) Yes, it got close to getting into top 4. But there were many things against us - the English and Belgium coningent having 0 preseason, horrific luck with injuries, Son being away on international duty for multiple times, deep run in CL (which did not help EPL form for sure), playing most of the season away at Wembley

2) WINDOW IS NOT OVER. Come on, carve it to your skull. If the situation is same on friday, we can revisit it. Also - Toby nor Eriksen have not left for free. We can revisit it when either of this happens.

3) Why was Poch saying X or Y. I don't know. And you don't either. Don't try to seriously suggest that you do.

4) I have been around enough. There have been singers of doom for ages now. Last summer we were expected to finish 7th and there was supposed to be fire and brimstone. Well, yea, I saw both of them in our CL quarter- and semifinals...

5) Don't come out and claim that our transfer policy has been the sole issue with no trophies in Poch era. This has been visited multiple times, but in domestic cup semifinals Poch has absolutely shoot our own foot in number of times. Based on squad (and clearly backed by our performances against the same opposite teams in EPL games) we shouldn't have lost to either Chelsea nor to ManU in FA semifinals. But we did.

This is the problem when the player has a year left in their contract. Selling club loses all the power. I’m guessing they're gonna sell to anyone willing to pay a fee. Most interested clubs are probably willing to wait and get him cheaper or for free

Fuck sake, I better not spend the whole of deadline day checking updates for us to end up buying no one and sell Eriksen to Utd and TA to Roma.

Spoiler - cos we know that's what's happening.......

When the club refuses or finds itself incapable of buying a single player to add to the squad for two successive transfer windows, it's embarrising, naive and downright pathetic to then blame our alarming drop in form on injuries and fatigue.
We were the architects of our own problems.
The transfer windows exist to give teams the opportunity to strengthen, refresh, rejuvinate, improve.
We shat the fuckin bed and ducked out of two in a row, then lost 20 fucking games across all competitions.

The level of cult status enjoyed by Levy/ENIC, from some members of this forum, is really quite disturbing

I love the guy, but have to agree with this statement. Not to mention not starting Moura in the CL final, although one could argue that, were it not for that 1st minute penalty, things could have been different.

The repeated negativity of some members of this forum simply defies the term "supporter" ... how does post after post criticizing the club show any level of support? You're just a sad boring little boy, don't like the game then stop playing ... it's pretty simple ... you'd probably be a lot happier and I'm damned sure we all would be.

What do you think your negative posts are going to achieve? Do you think that we will all stop following the club many of us have supported since before you were born just because of your bullshit? What is your purpose?

Yeah sure, let's get in a few more N'Koudous or N'jies or N'Whatevers, just to say we bought someone. And then we will moan about that.

Don't you understand that the reason we didn't buy anyone is because the players we were targeting were not gettable? How difficult is that to comprehend?!

If you're going to moan, you could at least do so for us not going after Lo Celso last year, for example, when he would have been much easier and cheaper to secure. Or, assuming we need a RB (which is a big if), not waiting until next year for Atal when he will be even more expensive and difficult to get. You'd have a point there. But spare me the "we didn't buy anyone for two windows" whining.

He'll only go to Utd if we allow him to. He's still our player under contract. We have the final say.
The day's of strengthening our rivals have passed, haven't they?

John Thomas now the king of white slavery .... yet still a clueless businessman, like we all didn't know that already. You want to walk away from 50m and pay out another 3m in salary? then you'll be the first to complain we don't have any money to spend .... dumb as a stump and that's harsh on the stump.

How is it negative to highlight our ducking out of two successive transfer windows as a contributing factor in our alarming end of season collapse in form.
Its called realism. Refusing to be sucked in by this weird, disturbing cult that's formed on here around Levy/ENIC.
If you and others think supporting you're club means blindly worshipping one man and every policy and action he enforces then you go for it .

I think it's got the point where it's take 50-60m - even from Utd - is better than him going for nothing in 12 months time.

I don't like the idea of him going to Utd, but that's a massive amount of money to piss away otherwise.
