Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How is it negative to highlight our ducking out of two successive transfer windows as a contributing factor in our alarming end of season collapse in form.
Its called realism. Refusing to be sucked in by this weird, disturbing cult that's formed on here around Levy/ENIC.
If you and others think supporting you're club means blindly worshipping one man and every policy and action he enforces then you go for it .
If we all of a sudden fell to midtable mediocrity, I'd concede the point. But we haven't. We had a slip, which all teams do, and not even as bad as to drop out of the top 4 or not reach a CL final.

No one is worshiping Levy/ENIC, but we also don't go bonkers from one minute to the next, because we understand that there is a long game in play here, one that has been unfolding since 2008. Success doesn't happen overnight and getting close doesn't mean were there.

Ah fuck it. I might as well be talking to a ham sandwich.

a concern I have is are our scouting network not picking up on these players when they are cheap or is it further up the tree that does not act on the scout's information, not saying we buy every player the scouts put forward but that the "directors of football team" look at them

Now that is a valid concern. If we're going to bitch and moan, maybe it should be directed at our scouting and not our transfer policy.

It's called being negative it certainly isn't called support ....

Being a Spurs fan your whole life is part of being in a weird disturbing cult, we're the Yid Army, I for one am proud to be part of that mad, bad, crazy bunch of bastards .... many of my longest friendships revolve around the "cult" that is Tottenham Hotspur ... wouldn't want it any other way ... until you've cheered on Rasiak, Dalmat, Thatcher Rebrov, Tramezzani, Stambouli, Lacy, O'Reilly, Young and a whole load more who deep down you knew were garbage, you simply haven't lived ..

By comparison today's squad are brilliant, as good as we've ever had ... we have not just hope, there's always been that, but now we have a real chance of actually winning stuff ...

You just simply don't get that ... and sadly for you, you probably never will ....

I think it's got the point where it's take 50-60m - even from Utd - is better than him going for nothing in 12 months time.

I don't like the idea of him going to Utd, but that's a massive amount of money to piss away otherwise.
Totally agree but if he does go it will show that his excuse of looking for a fresh challenge was a load of bollocks. Hardly a step up going there.
Tiring of the whole situation with this guy now. Get some cash in for him and bring in someone who actually shows a willingness to play for us.

Dunno why so many fans think we're so poor.

There are teams out spending us every season that aren't oil bitches or mega clubs.

Our only financial constraint is at board level.
We're exactly where they want us. They don't care if we win the champions league or the premier league. All they want is for out endeavours in both to generate as much income as possible.
Losing 20 games didn't matter when we played around 60 matches. 60 matches of fans attending games, spending cash, (or not, in the new stadium) and getting prize money.
Levy, Lewis, no one really cares about winning things. They're already winning. They have a business that's utterly killing it on the takings.

We will never go on a shopping splurge. But we do have money.

I'd be gutted if Eriksen leaves for United, I don't want him to go anyway but to leave to join a team who look like they're not going to be challenging for anything for a few seasons yet is particularly galling.

It's a valid point, should we be buying three or four 17 year olds at 15m each? Used to be a select few super academies in Europe now >100 clubs have top academies and the ability and money to support them ... if you look at all the very top clubs when it comes to converting 5/10/15m into top talent we've done very well, and we still have a great crop coming through now ... It should come as no surprise even 10 year olds have agents these days youth football is a whole new ball game.

The repeated negativity of some members of this forum simply defies the term "supporter" ... how does post after post criticizing the club show any level of support? You're just a sad boring little boy, don't like the game then stop playing ... it's pretty simple ... you'd probably be a lot happier and I'm damned sure we all would be.

What do you think your negative posts are going to achieve? Do you think that we will all stop following the club many of us have supported since before you were born just because of your bullshit? What is your purpose?
There's no point engaging with those guys anymore. They're basically parody accounts now. I only read their posts for comedy value these days...especially when they try to big up our rivals, notabadsquad is comedy gold for those...

What’s the purpose of anyone posting on here? It’s all just opinion and I doubt very much it has any effect on the club, players or employees.

John Thomas May come over as negative to you, but to me he comes across as someone asking the awkward questions. He is often repetitive, but mainly due to his every post being pounced on by half a dozen people wanting to call him out and he responds to each.

He also strikes me as someone who travels home and away and screams his lungs out for 90 minutes for the club. A supporter indeed.

Although, I may be miles out, but that’s the impression of him I get.

Players need to actually play at a certain level before you can assess whether they are good enough though - very rare for someone to make the jump from obscurity to playing in the CL without a stepping stone in between.

I'm pretty sure his dream wasn't to move to ManU either, this is almost certainly Spurs trying to push this now to get some decent money in.

Asking what questions to whom? His posts never contain questions they just tell us over and over that he knows why Spurs are shit, why Levy is shit, why the players are shit and how he could do a far better job from his basement in la la land. How is that in any way constructive?

If he were to raise the perfectly legitimate question 'should we sell Eriksen to Utd' then he could read the last ten pages to see a full range of views both pro and con ... but he doesn't he just ignores all those posts and bangs out another anti-club rant about how it's all the club's fault, when even an illiterate twelve year old can follow the reality that it's Eriksen who has refused to sign new contracts for three consecutive summers ... Eriksen's not a slave we can't make him sign, just as we can't make him move to another club we choose ... we could keep an unhappy player and blow 50m, but should we?

We will all be gutted if he goes to Utd but until it's proven different 100% I will put the blame on Eriksen ... why? because I support Spurs and that's how I think ...

JT supports anything anti-spurs and I find that from a fellow supporter bloody hard to understand.
