Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I would say Eriksen doesn't owe us anything in terms of having to stay. But I think if he has any loyalty to the team at all, then he should at least sign a contract so that we can sell him, instead of leaving us with nothing. I'm sure they could make a gentleman's agreement on that. If he's insisting on not signing a contract to make us let him go on a free, then fuck him.
The same gentleman's agreement Levy gave Modric when he signed his 6 year deal? Come on man, Eriksen is no fool.

If you don't have 100% confidence in your manager's ability to see talent, he shouldn't BE your manager. Poch has my complete support but I suspect that some of the people at the business end don't really understand that.

What difference would it make if some people at the business end of the club understood that he had your support.

There’s very few clubs in European football these days that hire a coach to “recruit” players. For very good reasons. It’s an incredibly expensive, complex and high risk part of the business model and a coach doesn’t have the time to scout and analyse footballers from markets around Europe etc. And the club has to make signings based on medium and long term strategies, managers invariably just want “now” and will rarely be around as long as the players he’s signed are on big contracts, especially if those recruitment choices are bad.

You just have to look at ours and ManU’s - and Woolwich under Wenger - clubs who have operated without de facto DOF’s to see how recruitment / contract situations etc can go awry.

But what is competitive. What the player desires? Slippery slope.
Competitive means exactly what it's always meant.
We can't pay a top player 100k if our rivals are paying 200k.

We have similar revenues to Woolwich and Chelsea yet pay our players way less - obviously good for the club but hardly sustainable. The results are that we will lose our key players on free transfers like with Eriksen and Toby because they will want to make up for their low wages by getting a large sign on bonus.

Given by the way he's melting, he's clearly a Spurs fan too :vert:

Well fuck me, even if nothing else of worth has been achieved today - at least Epllion is melting down and about to delete his account.

I don't know how Levy is making any deals with the massive erection he's getting from all this transfer drama. Fucking needed to call about is 4 hour erection days ago.

Bale's gone for a new image which judging from this makes him look even more simian...

Here he is arriving for hard training session relaxed jog around a football pitch pitch before a round of golf. On his own.

Haha the fact that you consider Foyth as a RB says it all, stop fooling yourself. KWP is championship standard player. Aurier in another hand is an injury prone player. So yea a RB is priority right now and by far our weakest position

What I have seen of KWP suggests Championship player with decent Premier league potential.
He's 22 with 19 senior appearances to his name. That's not very good to say the least, but he hasn't had time out on loan.

BUT! I wouldn't write him off yet.
Rose was 22 when he went on loan to Sunderland and came back ready.
I can't remember when he made the move from winger to full back, but I do remember him bulking up quite a bit and gaining some strength I never thought he would be capable of.

KWP could go on to get 20+ caps for England, or end up knocking around the football leagues.
He's one of our own. I would like to see him be given the chance.

Not sure that is quite true.

Eriksen at Ajax was well regarded but Spurs seemed to be the only ones to go in and grab him - and play and develop him.

So I think Eriksen owes us something for giving him the chance to move from Ajax ( then a club a bit in the doldrums,) whilst Spurs have kept pace with his development by giving him chance to play CL for 4 successive seasons and even getting to CL final.

But not all players will repay the opportunity given to them.

Come on he has been at Spurs 6 years and on very low wages compared to someone like Ozil who came to england the same year. He owes us nothing, it's just unfortunate noone has come forward with the 130 mill Levy wants
