Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'd say we had the best window in the premier league.

Chelsea: Given the transfer ban they actually had an exceptionally good window. Huge price for Hazard, bringing in kovacic and pulisic (i know he was january), shifted some dead weight. Still come out of the window worse than they were last year.

City: Good window as always.

Liverpool: Didn't really do anything...Got a young prospect.

Woolwich: Signed several good players but did it in the most Woolwich fashion possible. Enterred window with a horrible defense. Spent a ton of money on a winger who is good but not great. Spent a lot of money on a cb who they loaned back. Brought in a great midfielder...but on loan with no option to buy. Tierney and Luiz likely upgrade their defense but both are still pretty big question marks overall. Weird window. Probably improved defense with tierney and luiz, think they improved the 2nd most behind us but they spent a ton of money to get there and will have huge issues if they don't make champions league again. They were also the worst of the big 6 last year so had the most improving to do

United: Signed good players and hung on to pogba. Loss of herera will be huge, might even negate the upgrade maguire presents. Wan bissaka will help. A little bit better than last year but not much.

Think us, Woolwich and City had good windows. United imo are not better than last season. Say what you want about Lukaku but he scores goals and Herera was vital for them last season. Now they are relying on Matic and Rashford playing centrally.

🚨ATTENTION ATTENTION The Mercurial No.10 The Mercurial No.10 PREFERS ZAHA OVER DYBALA🚨

Please do not take anything he ever says seriously again.

TBH I do to. But the criminal bit is him arguing for Zaha over Son...

Have a word with yourself (Merc No10) you sure your Iodine levels are OK now? as that sounds like cretinism to me.

How crazy that I'd have preferred a homegrown player, who knows the league, is versatile, would have been within our wage structure, doesn't have image rights issues, that has been a long term target of the club and wanted to leave and was available.

Really difficult to understand that one.

I think his main point was why were we pursuing a player we were never really gonna get when we could have alternatively added an obtainable player who Poch has long admired. He may not be as good as Dybala, but Zaha would enhance any squad outside the top 2

Liar liar pants on fire!

I challenge you to find a single post where I said Tripps was our worst player.

Like many I said we should be looking to upgrade him, instead, we've gone and fucking downgraded with a youth prospect.

Facts, Sammy. Lets stick to facts.

I expect nothing less from everyone who said KWP and Aurier were superior players to Trippier to now start panicking at the apparent “downgrade” by selling him...

Mainly because he was always gonna be way too expensive for what he offers this summer, we are not gonna pay £75m for a decent squad player.

I think you'll find those are the people who will claim this has been a good window.
As you well know, I'm not one of them. Trippier is better than both, but not good enough for a team aspiring to win the major trophies.
That's why we should have upgraded.

Honestly I believe poch will make do with what he has. I cannot believe he thinks either of them are good enough. Did you hear his comments regarding transfers and it being nothing to do with him ?

Yes, I do think he thinks that. Admittedly maybe that's because I do too - I think both those lads will turn out to be quality RBs.
I think you (and others) are wildly over-interpreting those comments, which were taken out of context.
Poch and Levy talk every day, often for hours in the evening, they both work 24/7 and as a close team - I just cannot understand how you could really think the manager has no input.
If he thought RB was a priority and identified an individual target then we would have gone after him.

So we currently have a net spend of 83 million and a commitment to spend another 40 -50 on Lo Celso, even with the likely sales of Toby and CE and possibly Wanyama Nkoudou etc it's still significant investment.

If he doesn’t help us to top 4, then he wasn’t better than what we have, so 15M will be apt
So if we don't get top 4 it'll be because Lo Celso wasnt good enough?
