Levy imo will buy who he can get for the price he is willing to pay. Do you really believe they are best mates and talk for hours on an evening ?
If that wax true then levy would surely of picked up that poch would prefer to work with his new signings in pre season so they were ready for the start of the season wouldn't he ? Aurier is no youngster and I doubt he will suddenly improve

Poch has often said they talk every day.... Should we believe YOU instead?

Just in case you didn't know... Sessengon has been injured all summer and Lo Celso only got back from his hols 30th July. Other 2 purchases were made much earlier.

I'd loved to have seen us bring in a quality, or even young potential quality 6, because it's a pivotal role that fits most of Poch's systems, and we just don't have a fit/decent one unless Poch shows some bollocks and gives Skipp a fair shot - which I would happily settle for over watching clumsy units like Dier/Sissoko bumble around shitting themselves every time the ball comes near them.

And if we were after Dybala seriously - I'd much rather we went for Pepe - who would have been a much easier deal to do and would offer more potential upside IMO, or the absolute bargain of 20m Fekir, who is more talented and productive than Dybala (and younger)

But all that said I really, really fucking like the business we have done, one of the best windows we've had in long while, three players I really like and have for a while. Watched a fair bit of Lo Celso for PSG, including live, in 17/18 and I liked him then, was really surprised when PSG let him go, he's got a football brain, technically excellent, can move, has a good game picture and plays incisive passes from midfield, creates and scores the odd goal from midfield too (just watch highlights off the last Betis/RM game), only 23, could do a kind of David Silva job for us if he plays in the L8 role of a CM3.

Been wanting Ndombele for a couple of years, again, seen him play loads, including live a couple of times, and while all transfers are a risk, and he doesn't come with a guarantee, his skill set ticks a fuck of a lot of boxes for that 6/8 hybrid who can play in CM3's and Cm2's. Can press, win the ball, is strong like Dembele was in the dribble, but makes passes much better than Dembele ever did.

And I also really like Sessegnon, the composure he showed as an 17yo in a tough shit kicker of a league impressed the shit out of me, pace coupled with a brain and some composure are pretty rare, I can't remember a kid his age clocking up the goals/assists he did last year, and if Poch can work his magic on him, he's an absolute bargain who brings a combo of skills again, that we don't have.

Like others have said, we didn't cover all bases, but with the state we'd got ourselves into, that was always going to be a reasonably tough ask, but overall a really good window for me - with the caveat that Lo Celso gets used more in a midfield 3, and Skipp gets plenty of game time.

Few random thoughts

- Ndombele and Lo Celso's dribbling ability should open up a of space for everyone. Our midfield transition was terrible. Hopefully Winks can stay healthy too.

- Really hope we can convince Eriksen to sign a new deal. With Ndomebele and Lo Celso, Erisken should never have to drop in a deeper role. This should really free him up offensively and hopefully turn down his mileage.

-RB - the big issue. In Poch we trust. Hopefully Aurier can get his shit together. KWP can make a Sissoko like improvement during the season, and Foyth proves everyone wrong. Our upgraded midfield should take a lot of pressure off our back-line.

IMO, our biggest issue was scoring goals last season. Ndombele and Lo Celso should allow Eriksen and Dele to be attacking players only. Hopefully they can both find their best form. If Dele stays healthy, i want to see 2016/17 Dele both in position and performance.

- Lucas has looked very bright in preseason. 15 goals in all competitions last season. Wouldn't be shocked if we see that number jump to 25 this year.

Excited for the season to get going.

I know there is still time, but I am disappointed we have not managed to shift more of our squad players.

Relieved we finally got Lo Celso, but overall, it's been a real mixed bag for me. We've let problems pile up for years, and it was always going to be a big ask to rectify them all in one window.

Bothered that Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen are running down their contracts.
I agree. I'd say its a pretty good window if you isolate it. But an average 1 if you take in to consideration the last few windows & the fact we are playing catch up. Could be better, could be worse. Highly confident about ndombele. Not seen much of lo Celso but I trust you guys that he will be good. Then 2 promising youngsters (especially sessegnon). Lost our 1st choice RB. & some key players running down there contracts. Like you say, a mixed bag.

Hopefully we have learned from this. Don't go a whole summer without signing anyone again or else you leave yourself too much to do. That was a big cock up but I am pretty sure we won't make that mistake again.

If Lo Celso scores a hat trick and Sessengon gets three assists will it become a better window than 5/5?
Then if we lose the following week is it a middle window again?
What do you judge by? Clearly not money spent anymore if spending 150M more than Liverpool is average to meh
But you're the one who asked me to rate our transfer window!

What about all those saying it's been a good/great window. Will you be mocking those people for judging it prematurely too?

If only other posters could use this kind of realism and measured, cautious approach this would be a far more cordial and less hostile debate.

Mainly the kind of people who worry about breaking FFP or doing a Leeds/Portsmouth

Let's deal with this with some logic.

You feel it's an over reaction by our fans saying that spending too much on players as an excuse not to spend big citing Leeds/Portsmouth, let's add in Blackburn too for shits and giggles.

Why do we say this? In your view as a defence mechanism for Levy from not making the signings you feel we should and that we're over-egging the custard because we're nothing like Leeds/Pompey/Blackburn. You're mocking us for being glad that the club hasn't gone to the wall.

The reason we're nothing like those 3 clubs IS Levy, you seem to ignore that for the sake of saying the club lacks ambition. If you want to nail him for lack of ambition that is your right, but you'll struggle to argue that he hasn't looked after the club to any fair minded fan, ask a lot of fans of the other clubs who they think the best Chairman in the Premier League is, I bet you Levy would be top 3, easy.

Could we have spent more? Yes, should we have? The Dybala demands could have been utterly astronomical and screwed our wage structure in one fell swoop, was it a lack of ambition or just good common sense ultimately? I can tell you that neither of us are qualified to tell. But I'm pretty sure if he was too hot for the financial resources of Manchester United, logic says he was going to be a very difficult player to sign.

I am not saying this to wear a Levy scarf or pen songs in tribute to him but if you think about it he deserves credit for the things he's done.

Wanyama doesn't actually fry my head, and I have some sympathy for him in that it's a chronic injury that is dragging him down. But there are others-and I won't name names-whom I am very keen to see the back of, and I don't know who is going to want them.
What's wrong with him? I'm not convinced he's finished, just that he needs a proper pre season which we can give him hopefully as we have plenty of cover now...

I've heard people saying that but am pretty sure he played 4 games in 2 weeks towards the end of last season....just think he's had a shit injury and never got enough rest and recovery and fitness time cos he's been rushed back to plug gaps...

Eriksen replaced by Lo Celso weaker
Trippier replaced by nobody meh
Ndombele replacing Dembo much stronger
Clarke meh
Sess I guess = stronger but where's he gonna play? we are also weaker if he is a replaced to Rose

It's a mixed bag window, especially if Toby and CE leave.
