Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Dybala would have been icing, but this pleases me greatly..

There are broader questions to ask of course, but it's always nice to know your club isn't just a headless chicken out there. These are guys we've scouted, and particularly with respect to the two older proven top level players, it's easy to see from watching highlights why they're considered a good fit for our setup and where they will slot into the team.

All at respectable prices on respectable wages.

If we can do that every summer, while flogging off pieces that don't fit in the puzzle as well when their value is high, we can build a monster here. But, this is coming after a year of no incomings and with a couple of wantaway contract situations. The scalability of what we've done here remains in question.

We did exactly what the manager wanted even down to the four names that the transfer committee first proposed back in May/June ... the players we signed were all first choice targets.

Bit more on Dybala, we simply couldn't sign because the legals just didn't stack up. Dybala currently would not satisfy the EPL requirements regarding image rights, until these were sorted we might have ended up with a 75m player we couldn't play, if we did sign Dybala without prior agreement then Star Image could hold us to ransom for an additional 40m (indeed they threatened to do just that) It's no secret that Juve have an offer from PSG on the table and obviously more time to make that work, however we have let in be known that subject to sorting out the legal issues we will be back for Dybala in January, that's if he's still at Juve ... probably not going to be the case but you never know. Dybala wanted to join us, he's made that very clear, sadly this may never happen.

Best thing about today was the fact we bought 2 left footed players. To me our squad looks much better balanced now.

Added bonus is that all the players we bought are young. There was a time last season when I was looking at our squad and thinking how aged it has become. Maybe because I still see people like Kane, Rose and Eriksen as youth players. There is no doubt the experience helped us massively to get to the final of CL, especially those players who reached the WC semi. Added to the experience of people like Llorente (former World Cup winner). I would have liked to have kept Llorente, just because he is useful to come off the bench and give us the long ball option.

Fully expecting Eriksen to go. Other than that barring injuries (no doubt we will have a few), I think this is a top 3 squad.

We can still keep Llorente, he's a free agent and we have a one year deal already to go ... guess he will see what comes up in Europe before that window closes, but it's not unrealistic to see him here for another year. Won't get in the CL squad but might make the EPL ....

So we end the window with two pretty strong looking XIs to choose from:

Lloris
Aurier
Alderweireld
Vertonghen
Rose
Winks
Ndombele
Eriksen
Lo Celso
Son
Kane

Second string:

Gazzaniga
Walker-Peters
Foyth
Sanchez
Davies
Dier
Sissoko
Lamela
Sessegnon
Dele
Lucas

Still got enough space in our squad for the likes of:

Wanyama
Tanganga
Skipp
Parrott

Excellent window! Next on my wish list are Atal and Dybala. Get those boys in and we become serious players. Excellent business this summer, we have committed to spending something along the lines of £145m all in all with 2x £55m players, a £25m signing in Sess & Clarkey boy at c£10m. A hefty outlay regardless of what happens over the next few weeks across the European markets and who ends up possibly leaving.

COYS!!!

Looks like our new boys have picked their numbers judging by the Spurs site team list.

GLC 18
Sess 19
Unless Llorente is taking the available 9 jersey then I'm guessing he's not coming back...:pochsulk:

Honestly so excited to see how we line up. Curious to see how Eriksen and Lo Celso play together. Very much anticipate Lo Celso’s introduction to bring the best out of Eriksen.

Would much rather see Parrott given those minutes.

I do agree, though I suspect Parrott won't be picked on the bench as frequently as Llorente was and will probably have minutes limited to the domestic cups.
Suppose with the players we now have, it would be rude to give a bench space to Parrott over say Lamela, Lucas, Eriksen, Lo Celso, Sessegnon - or whatever attacking players aren't starting that game.

We will see. I hope he does get on the bench and starts to build up the odd 10-15 minutes when we are a couple of goals up. But if we are in need of a goal - I think he's got a very long way to go before Poch calls on him to come on and change a game.
