Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

For the 1st time in quite a while, I feel confident about a top 3 finish. I think we can take Liverpool and achieve 2nd. MC is a step above 'pool but we beat them with a lesser squad last season and knocked them out of the CL. So if we can achieve more consistency with our new squad covering possible injuries, I'm not holding my breath but I won't be surprised if we're challenging for the league next season.
I still don't like Levy's stewardship but he's done us proud this window. "A Team for all Seasons " to paraphrase Robert Bolt. Really looking forward to Villa on Saturday.
How serious is Sessegnon's injury? I'd like to see him in action. And also intrigued by who Poch will play RB.
This will be a great season for us. Well done everybody (including the red cards) for a fascinating thread.

Only problem is people defended levy when we signed no one in a whole summer. So they lose any credibility for me as they will just back levy whatever. Not that there's anything wrong in supporting our chairman no matter what. But then you don't really have your own opinion as you will change it to suit whatever levy does.

We didn't sign anyone because there was nobody available who would have improved what we had - see Liverpool summer 2019 for clarification ... of course when they do it the press (and some forum posters) think it's good business, when we did it Levy was a tight cunt .... go figure. When you fall for the media spin and don't actually listen to what our own club says ... well that's up to you, it is your opinion after all.

For months the informed sources have been telling us exactly how this window would go ... guess what exactly what they said is exactly what has happened, even the target players were well known weeks ago ... Dybala was just a bonus we couldn't quite close, but not for lack of trying.

Hindsight is of course easy, but with zero spent in 2018 leaving a strong established squad to get top four and the bonus of a CL final, with the stadium getting done, and now with our biggest window in a decade hopefully sending us to another level ... I'm pretty sure Levy got it right.

So excited for this season! Forgot what it feels like to have new players to look forward to seeing! Tanguy I reckon guaranteed starter but GLC might be bedded in a little throughout next few months, same with Sess. All in all delighted we secured out targets, rb situation a little tricky but we fo still have Aurier who is a quality RB and Walker Peters can do a job there as well as Foyth when he recovers. Looking very bright!

I have a hopeful feeling GLC is going to really surprise everyone.

Not gonna lie I still feel a bit down by yesterday and the window in general. It's the same feeling I had after the CL final. Yes absolutely brilliant getting to the final, the way we did it, but we lost in the end, we didn't collect the prize. A win would have taken us into the elite, shut up all those who mock us, made us really special and been the perfect reward for all of Poch's work

Same with this window. We signed Ndombele and Lo Celso, Sess and Clarke, superb bit of business eventually, but someone like Dybala would have been the CL trophy, it would have been a big fuck you to all the doubters, the piss takers, Tottenham Hotspur would have joined the big boys for once. Alas the bridesmaid once again

8/10 for the window

1/10 for your post
Glass not even half empty post

For me, hell of a window. NDombele has already shown he’s quality in an area we were sorely lacking after Dembele was injured/sold. Lo Celso offers something different in his desire to play with the ball at his feet, and Sessegnon/Clarke seem like great prospects going forward. Exciting times.

Poch has often said they talk every day.... Should we believe YOU instead?

Just in case you didn't know... Sessengon has been injured all summer and Lo Celso only got back from his hols 30th July. Other 2 purchases were made much earlier.
Talk every day maybe, but for hours on an evening I doubt.
Other teams have signed players who were on holiday due to returning later after summer tournaments. What makes us not as important as those clubs..
Also I am led to believe sess is still injured but we have somehow signed him, we all know this is just how levy works. It happens all the time, so he can get what he wants from a deal and always feel like he won, and not get a deal done that best suits the team and manager.....or is he the head coach again now lmao

I do agree, though I suspect Parrott won't be picked on the bench as frequently as Llorente was and will probably have minutes limited to the domestic cups.
Suppose with the players we now have, it would be rude to give a bench space to Parrott over say Lamela, Lucas, Eriksen, Lo Celso, Sessegnon - or whatever attacking players aren't starting that game.

We will see. I hope he does get on the bench and starts to build up the odd 10-15 minutes when we are a couple of goals up. But if we are in need of a goal - I think he's got a very long way to go before Poch calls on him to come on and change a game.
This is where being able to have the whole 25 available on the bench like a international tournament would be useful so you always have young players around for when we are comfortable in a game to bring them on.

I know there is still time, but I am disappointed we have not managed to shift more of our squad players.

Relieved we finally got Lo Celso, but overall, it's been a real mixed bag for me. We've let problems pile up for years, and it was always going to be a big ask to rectify them all in one window.

Bothered that Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Eriksen are running down their contracts.
Just wanted to say this TW thread has been fuckin fantastic. The boys on here have been amazing even the bitter and twisted cunts. I think the banter on here is first class and the cunt offs have been fucking hilarious at times. Obviously I'm biased but reckon we've got the best fans and without doubt the best site out there. So good luck to all and let's now unite and get behind the boys no what comes this season. See you in the match thread and remember......THIS IS MY CLUB MY ONE AND ONLY CLUB. COYS

This window was an absolute masterclass. Two of the most sought after young center midfielders in the world, one of the highest rated young English players and an exciting speculative buy for the future (Clarke).
As of now, Eriksen and Toby are still our players. This window won't, but should shut up the, "Poch will have his head turned if he's not backed" nonsense. Buzzing.

I ve not been the loudest supporter of Levy s transfer windows, not because we weren t throwing monney at everyone but because I tought the players where we actually spent big didn t always work out. Sales were taking very long or didn t finalise at all, players never got a pre season with us and we often payed the same as if we d signed them earlier (like Sissoko). But this Window I think Levy has done great. I like that LoCelso is a loan with option to buy. From what I ve seen of him, he is a good player but not worth what they ve been asking for him. If it doesn t work out, we can still say no at the end of the season. Sesegnon is an option for leftback with considerable more pace then Davies. Tanguy is the long craved deep lying playmaker I always tought we missed. People that are disapointed we didn t get Dybala I cannot understand. He s a freaking diva. Tidy footballer with lots of quality going forward, but just doesn t get stuck in, always goes missing in big matches. We really don t need an Oezil at this club.

I still expect us to sell a midfielder, absolutely no point in having 9 midfielders at the club. Altought I see it as a sign that we are gona stick with the diamond in the midfield, so we might push Son or Dele next to Kane.

Think it's been a good window, we now have a couple of midfielders who are not only good dribblers, have an eye for a pass but are decent finishers....fucking hell, they might even press a bit too.

Dybala would have been the icing on the cake....but we still have a pretty fine cake...sure the filling might be a bit dodgy here and there, but I'd still eat it...
