Theres no questioning Poch certainly took some players to another level. Kane, Dele, Dier, Son, Walker and Rose all improved under him. Same at Southampton with Rodriguez, Lambert, Lallana. He made Dembele better and helped Sissoko.

I heard earlier that their manager said they’d take the captaincy away from him if he doesn’t sign the new contract on the table. Doesn’t sound much of a threat!

Not one of the youth players Poch was “awful” to has gone on to even hint that they could be a top player. Not one. The notion that we had a plethora of top quality players coming though our academy that he failed to give opportunities to is complete and utter hogswash.

Sorry but Twitter is the last place to look for valid responses to any arguement or discussion... most posts and responses to almost any post for almost any topic are capable of being completely vile. It sure has gone downhill fast since the first few years of the app.
Obviously some of the responses are harsh, but Dier really is a player we should be looking to cut loose. He hasn’t improved at all since 15/16, in fact he’s regressed horrifically since then, he isn’t home grown. He just doesn’t offer anything. It’s just typical of Spurs to continue to persist with a player who is simply never, ever going to be good enough for a team looking to really challenge.

Let’s all be honest here, it’s going to be Fraser and Giroud on a free with Dier/ Vertonghen signing new contracts and that will be it. We all know it. Spurs will announce they Vertonghen contract right at the end, just to appease the Levy sympathisers. Utterly pathetic this club
This feels like a Mou's boy signing. I've defended Dier because he can do a job and as a squad player he's fine, but he's not been able to repeat his workmanlike performances from 15/16 at DM and 16/17 at RCB in a few years. He's not a starting CB in a back pair and he doesn't want to play DM. Granted, a lot of this is due to injury and illness, but he's not the type of player Spurs should be concerned with locking up long term.
That being said, just because he signed a contract doesn't mean he can't move on next summer.
It would have been good even without Werner, assuming they get Chilwell. I'm more skeptical on Ziyech than most but he fills a need with Willian leaving.
If we give him an extension with anything over than a view to getting more money for him this summer, I will be disgusted.
