I think we could easily replace Dele & Son for cheaper than we could sell them, no? Do you think Son is worth less then the 52m realise clause for Werner ? He would have been an upgrade on Son and provided back up for Kane.
I think we could have sold Ali and Son, brought in Werner, Stengs, Eze and still maybe had some change to buy Tsimikis or Wijndal or Ball-Toure.

I don't rate Aurier much, and he's a fruit cake, but lets be honest, the Pl isn't exactly brimming with quality RB's, so as much as I'f love an upgrade, I'd live with Aurier/KWP/Hinds for 12 months and prioritise LB where we don't have a single viable option. Rose has been gone for 3 years, Davies is so fucking ordinary it's painful. Sessegnon is really an attacking player IMO. Cirkin can be understudy, but we need to bring in a decent LB who can defend a bit, play some football and attack a bit as we are so unbalanced, and that might take some heat off Aurier on the other side too.
Contract til 2023, entering his peak.... I'd start with a high-ball pricetag above 52; yes.... Especially given the wealth of likely suitors.

He's not perfect, his all round game has holes, but as a wide forward, in a 433 he'll score more goals than Son does - and you can stick him up top and play him off the shoulder too - or with a big hold up guy. I know there's a lot of love for Son, he's a scorer of great goals, but not a great scorer, when you boil it down, he's not prolific enough, and he goes missing for big chunks at a time and even on a good day he can still bumble like a good un. It's why he's never played more than 2300 minutes and even in Germany he never scored more than 12 in a season. Technically there's not loads in it, I just think Werner is that little bit smarter in the way he moves and goes about things.

The reality of the situation though is that, if the Chavs had to sell to buy - like you are proposing for us - then they wouldn't have got the march on him either.
No, agree, they've taken advantage of some serendipitous circumstances, their own non spend last 12 months, an owner less affected by the crisis than the likes of us and Liverpool, and a reasonable buy out clause that was put in place last year to keep him at the club a bit longer, that expires in a few days I think.
It's moot, we're not getting him. I was just using it as an example of how it was possible to upgrade players like Alli and Son without spending more than they are worth.
I guess the question becomes would the numbers stack up for us to upgrade in such a fashion now Weener is out of the frame?
I've just said this elsewhere, but might as well chuck it in here; a player who's not been on many radars, but I think is a better option - and way fucking cheaper - as a potential 6 is Konrad Laimer (RBL 23yo).
Here me out. Not a glamorous name, not a glamorous player, no frills, but he works his nuts off, presses well, is tenacious as fuck and isn't a terrible footballer either.
