We still need a left-footed CB even if we sign Kim, so I'm still hoping for Gabriel as well.
I´m not so sure we really need a left-footed center back (just a guess).

The way we play with the right-back going forward in possession, the center back on the left becomes a central defender of a back three, so Dier and Toby are fine in that position - they are covered by Davies on the left. What we need is a strong and fast player on the right of the central defence, to provide competition for Sanchez. Someone that can cover the space left by Aurier - I really don´t see Toby or anyone else in the squad, except maybe Tanganga, doing that.

The guys from The Athletic and Alasidar Gold have been the most reliable with team news and they both shot down the Ndombele v Jose argument story.

If Clyne is fit enough, would be a very good replacement for Aurier. Clyne used to be no 1 at Liverpool before injury and rise of TAA and return from injury of Joe Gomez (CB/RB) so plenty of experience in PL, CL and England.

A potentially very good youngster, Dermi Lusala, could be getting into first team training in the next 12 months as well.

i am sure the relationship is not great but the "never going to play for you" angle seems a little extreme and as others have mentioned why would he be on the bench if that were the case?

Its hard to imagine that Jose would put a player on his bench that told him that and why would Ndombele dress if he knew that Jose wouldn't put him in and that if he tried that he wouldn't go in?

Nah, Clyne is done.

He was horrendous at Bournemouth last season and I don't think he's played a single minute of football this season? So that's over a year without playing competitive football, following nearly a year and a half of playing no football due to injuries etc.

I'd rather give KWP games over Clyne at this point in time.

What do you think of Tariq Lamptey?

I wonder how he feels about the championship.... Our neighbours on the East side of town appear to be in need of a new RB. :townhmm:

Does seem like a West Ham type signing - but even Ryan Fredericks is probably more use than Clyne is nowadays.

A shame though because Clyne was a fantastic little full back under both Rogers and Pochettino - I do wonder though if he regrets choosing Southampton over Man Utd.

Perhaps Fredericks may fancy a step up to an EPL stalwart like Brighton or a supporting gig at a super-power like Palace. ahead of the champo. :freund:

Never entirely convinced me whilst at The Dippers tbh... Who was gaffa at Utd at the time? LVG or Jose?
