I thought Hojberg was decent last night? or only me.
The passback to Stephens wasn't the best although arguably Stephens could've done better.
But as a CDM , he won the most tackles of any player which is good to see.

I thought he was awful considering he had a hand in both goals conceded. He did make a few nice tackles yes and seemed to come across to put a stop to pepe’s runs a couple of times but other than that I wasn’t impressed.

If he is going to make the kind of mistakes that cost his team goals then that isn’t the kind of player we need. His passing also looked much worse then I remember seeing earlier in the season.

Totti Totti reckons it could be because he’s now been stripped of the captaincy and no longer wants to be there which is fair but still very concerning. I suppose we should factor in that Southampton are one of those teams on the beach now aswell, they won’t get Europe and they won’t get relegated.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop him for the Watford game though, on the whole it was pretty calamitous from him.

How was the first goal his fault?
Also the second goal at the end of the day they scored from the set piece which just wasn't defended well by Southampton , honestly I don't know.
Anyway we can't just judge a guy off 1 game.

He kept passing backwards when he was in space and could easily have turned and picked a pass. Consistently passing backwards put his CB’s under pressure, obviously the goalkeeper fucked up big time but if Hojberg had just turned around it wouldn’t have happened.

If you go over to the other teams matches thread, I’ve actually listed (with the times in the game so you can look yourself if you have the game on record or whatever) examples of how poor he is on the ball. The first goal comes about because instead of turning into space he just bunts the ball back to the defender putting him under pressure, I gave another example of A sequence ofhim doing this. Have a look and see for yourself, he was poor.

If Clyne is fit enough, would be a very good replacement for Aurier. Clyne used to be no 1 at Liverpool before injury and rise of TAA and return from injury of Joe Gomez (CB/RB) so plenty of experience in PL, CL and England.

A potentially very good youngster, Dermi Lusala, could be getting into first team training in the next 12 months as well.

This might be a very smart move.

I only saw MOTD but goal 1 was 100% the GK's fault. Goal 2 came from a direct FK and unless Hobnob is in goal that wasn't his fault either.
Even the pass back that led to the FK wasn't that awful.
I am speaking as someone who has not been impressed by Hobnob but would like to hear other's opinions.

Out of the clubs in that image. Grealish and Rice and Sarr, because rice is a more natural CDM than Hoijberge and younger that's it. But both are only ok if the are only asked to win and rotate the ball. Grealish looks like a player peaking and if we are daft enough to flog N'dombele then he'd be my replacement. Sarr because there is a talent their but we need a real striking coach brought in to harness it.

Aarons
Grealish
Callum Wilson

Thanks for that post.
I won't look at Watford because I don't think they will go down.
Players I like (admittedly I haven't seen a great deal of some of them)
Norwich: Cantwell, Pukki, Zimmerman, Lewis (ish)
Villa: Grealish, McGinn, Reina, Targett
Bournemouth: Brooks, Billing
WHU: Rice, Bowen, Diop, Lanzini, Fabianski

Exclusive - Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has asked chairman Daniel Levy to try and sign up to five new players in order to sufficiently boost the squad for next season, though strained finances will mean the club will focus on players in the loan and free agent markets.

Spurs have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic in recent months and were among the handful of Premier League clubs planning to make use of the government’s Job Retention Scheme by furloughing non-playing staff – until public pressure forced a U-turn.

That could make strengthening ahead of next season, which is vital when the current campaign has seen them slip out of the top four, a significant challenge.

With this his first summer in charge, 90min has been informed that Mourinho is seeking as many as five new faces for the 2020/21 campaign. The Portuguese hopes bringing in that many new additions will give his squad the necessary strength in depth to compete next season.

However, in the difficult current circumstances, the club would consider three signings a relative success.

Their approach comes amid concerns over income. The new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been sitting empty since March and fans may not be allowed to return in mass numbers until 2021, wiping out matchday revenue for close to a year. The fact there will also be no NFL games in London this year has meant Spurs have taken a further hit.

A source confirmed to 90min: “The lack of matchday revenue has hit Tottenham harder than most, and for that reason their budgets for next season have been hit. There are some very good players available for little to no outlay, and Spurs are really investigating this avenue hard.”

In terms of targets, Levy is already scouring both the loan and free agent markets. Spurs suffered a setback on Thursday as top target Thomas Meunier joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer, but they remain in the mix for the likes of Willian, Thiago Silva and Ryan Fraser.

There will be considerable competition for Silva as 90min has already revealed that Woolwich, Everton, Wolves, Newcastle and West Ham have all considered offering the veteran Brazilian a contract.
