Just playing devil’s advocate here but isn’t it possible to do this about any player?
I could highlight multiple points in our last two matches where Kane has looked awful(heavy touches, poor passes, etc.), but we all know he is world class.
Is there nothing positive at all to highlight about what you’ve seen of him? I just feel like sometimes when we decide someone is shit, we keep focusing on their flaws to fit that narrative and no longer see any of their potential positives.
Looks sensational, unless the highlights are deceptive.
Doesn't he play as a CM though - if so we already have Ndombele, Lo Celso and arguably Winks in that kind of position ?
If Ndombele really has fallen out with Mourhino, he'd be a great shout.
If he can play as an AM he could replace Lamela or Moura, but we probably need to bring in one HG this window so I'd go for Eze, unless Mourhino cant find a striker to bring in and is happy to bring in both Eze and this guy to replace both ?
Fair point to a certain extend, you could make Paul Scholes look like a mediocre passer of the ball in one minute (and Sissoko a good one if you have too much time on your hands)
Five is probably trying to say that these things are typical for the footballer that he is.

You could make a far longer video of Ndombele being a lazy cunt and giving the ball away than doing good things on the ball.

His finishing is world class.
Works hard without the ball. But doesn't work smart.
The first thing to note is that he is not a specialist DM. I know this because he doesn't read the game very well. He plays box to box for Southampton. Most people don't talk about this.
The second thing is his lack of athleticism. He is overweight. He has no pace/recovery pace. He lacks agility and stamina.
The third aspect of all this-and it seems to be lost on some people-is that when you have a midfielder who avoids showing for the ball (because he does not want to receive it with his back to play), and gives it away as carelessly as Hoibjerg does (because he panics under any sort of pressure and struggles to see a constructive pass), it puts your defence under pressure. But that seems to work well for him, because he quite enjoys charging around like a mad eejit.

Thank you. Having watched Southampton play 15 or 16 times this season, I can safely say that this type of stuff defines him as a footballer. It is there is every game. He doesn't take care of the ball. Any midfielder who doesn't want the ball should find another job.
Also, I am sick to the back teeth of the use of stats without context being pumped out by dickheads on Twitter.

About Castagne, I'd love us to sign a player to make the RB position his own, like Hakimi or even Mukiele, but we have to be ready for a limited funds scenario as well. And while I understand the idea of bringing in a young prospect, like Aarons or Ferguson, Aurier would continue to be a guarantee starter (I don't deslike Serge and I think he's been very important for us, but there are obvious issues with his game).
While Castagne is not brilliant, he is a steady and dynamic full-back (wing-back, really); he's fast, he's more than decent at crossing and usually has a very good decision making - which makes a nice contrast to Aurier's. To have Castagne rotating with Serge could benefit both, and the team.
