Players like Martinez who have Champions League football now that would only want to go to another Champions League team. We are not Chelsea where we can give him 250k a week to get him to play for us with no CL. This is the point.

I'm not talking about random players to make our team better. You're not even focusing on what the point of the conversation is. You're making up your own arguments to the sake of trying to prove a point I don't really care about.

What?

The conversation isn't about making us better?

LOL

Are we competing in the Sky Sports News league or the Premier League? Winning matches is what gets you top 4, not transfer tweets.

We have lots of good players in our squad and two of the best goal scorers in the world. Top 4 is possible if we have a decent season. Even last seasons shambles we weren’t that far off.
Agreed, but gotta remember that Chelsea improved quite a bit after sacking Lampard and Liverpool had defensive injury problems all season, so it wasnt just us who had a tough season. Will be tough, but obviously not impossible, to get into thst top 4.

Oh yes I remember. enic/levy fans getting cocky & sarcastically saying we never spend on big players whilst laughing & toasting levy’s dyabla coup. :bergwijnconfused:
Or the LevyOut crew losing their fucking minds because we didn't get the Damiao transfer over the line. Or blow the budget to get Berahino in.

Whether any one wants to believe it or not, we've dodged a fuck ton of pot holes by not splashing cash. And signed a few donkies by doing so, as well.

Its real eye of the beholder stuff - you can interpret our transfer policy to suit any preconceived narrative you want.

That’s where situating the level of analysis at the overall net spend is helpful and instructive.

All things considered, Levy’s broad transfer strategy is fairly sensible, and is a major contributor to why we’re in so much better shape than Woolwich. Levy saw things in “squad capital” terms before the analytics types drove the rest of the sport there.

Levy’s transfer tactics are constantly self-destructive, and the whole operation is unforgivably under-funded. Three separate things.
